INTRODUCTION

 This Project “INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” is mainly useful for the management of
materials like purchase and sales and related transactions.
 This application is to automate the existing system of manually maintaining the records of the
counter sales, purchases, reorder levels, Supplier and Customer monetary positions and other
related transactions made at the counter.
 In the existing system, records are maintained through different registers, which becomes very
inconvenient to modify the existing data, but here is a facility that the same data in different
registers may have corrected by a single updation.
 User is no longer required to check or verify his register in search of records, as now it can be
searched over the software by choosing some options.
 The user need not to type in most of the information at every transaction, it can be recalled
from master wherever necessary
 In this system computer automatically calculated the transactions, values and displaying the
result for further manipulations.
 Our main objective behind to make this project is to maintaining the Inventory of any grocery
shop. A database is created to replace manual process which is time consuming, more chance
to redundancy, inconsistency.

DATA ACCESS SOURCE

 Microsoft Visual Basic is the quickest and easiest way to create application for the
Microsoft Windows operating system. The Visual Basic programming system allows
the user to create attractive and useful application that fully exploits the Graphical
User Interface(GUIs).
 Recognize the action user’s take events such as mouse movements and
button clicks. Visual Basic also comes with a menu design feature that makes
creating menus a snap.
 Only after we design the interface dose anything like traditional
programming occur. Object in Visual Basic will recognize events like mouse click,
how the object respond to them depend upon the code we write. We shall always
need to write code in order to make controls responds to events. This makes the
Visual Basic programming fundamentally different from conversion programming.
 Programming in conversional programming Language run from
top, down. For lower programming language execution start from the first line and
moves with the flow if the program to different part as needed. A
HARDWARE REQUIREMENT

1. Hardware Requirement

1. Processor : Pentium 4 Above

2. RAM : 2 GB or more
3. Hard disk : 160 GB or more
4. Monitor : VGA/SVGA
5. Keyboard : 104 Keys
6. Mouse : 2 buttons/ 3 buttons
7. Operating System : Windows 7
8. Front end : Visual Basic 6.0
9. Back end : MS ACCESS 2007
RELATIONAL DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RDBMS):

 RELATIONAL DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RDBMS):

 A relational model represents the database as a collection of relations. Each relation
resembles a table of values or file of records. In formal relational model terminology, a
row is called a tuple, a column header is called an attribute and the table is called a
relation. A relational database consists of a collection of tables, each of which is assigned
a unique name. A row in a tale represents a set of related values.

 RELATIONS, DOMAINS & ATTRIBUTES:

 A table is a relation. The rows in a table are called tuples. A tuple is an ordered set of n
elements. Columns are referred to as attributes. Relationships have been set between
every table in the database. This ensures both Referential and Entity Relationship
Integrity. A domain D is a set of atomic values. A common method of specifying a
domain is to specify a data type from which the data values forming the domain are
drawn. It is also useful to specify a name for the domain to help in interpreting its values.
Every value in a relation is atomic, that is not decomposable.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT

 Testing is a process of executing a program with the interest of finding an

error. A good test is one that has high probability of finding the yet
undiscovered error. Testing should systematically uncover different classes
of errors in a minimum amount of time with a minimum amount of efforts.
Two classes of inputs are provided to test the process
 A software configuration that includes a software requirement specification,
a design specification and source code.
 A software configuration that includes a test plan and procedure, any testing
tool and test cases and their expected results.
 Testing is divided into several distinct operations:
 1. Unit Testing
LIMITATION AND FUTURE SCOPE

 INVENTORY MANAGMENT SYSTEM is developed keeping all the requirements of organization in

mind. At present it fulfils almost all the requirement. But as for growing organization, it is difficult to
exactly predict what they need in future, so it cannot be predicted that this software will meet their
requirement in future also without any up gradation in our software.

 As the project is developed in VB and Access any number of tables can be included to store different
data and any number of VB forms can be included to design user interface.

 As the software is properly documented it will not be difficult for any programmer to update this
software.

 Any number of reports and graph can be added as and when required.

 The date format is Properly handled as per Indian Date Nomenclature.

 Further up gradation is possible in this software.

 In the later stage this S/W can be made online so that the manager can view all the updations from his
office.
ADVANTAGES OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM

 The system is very simple in design and to implement. The system

requires very low system resources and the system will work in almost
all configurations. It has got following features

 Security of data.
 Ensure data accuracy’s.
 Proper control of the higher officials.
 Reduce the damages of the machines.
 Minimize manual data entry.
 Minimum time needed for the various processing.
 Greater efficiency.
 Better service.
 User friendliness and interactive.
 Minimum time required.
