Astrology
Astrology

 Is the study of the connection between the position and

movement of celestial bodies with the physical and life process on
Earth
 Astrologers ( people who study astrology)
 Use tools such as star and birth charts and knowledge on
constellations to make predictions about the future events on
Earth and human personalities
 Planetary positions and their relations to constellations are used
to predict the future, or the likely personality and behavior of a
persons
The early civilizations of the Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks,
Romans and Sumerians practiced astrology in making predictions
about the future events
The following are some beliefs in astrology regarding human
personality or behavior
 A person just born after a spring equinox ( March 20 which marks the
beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere) is likely to become
entrepreneur.
 A specific month or date where a person is born connotes a specific set of
behavior. Astrological forces are believed to act on the birth of babies
which imprint them a set of characteristics.
 In Ancient Babylon, scripts say that the year will be good if a new moon
appears in a bright sky and it is greeted with joy.

Why Is Astrology Not A Science?
Although astrology uses knowledge about the position of the stars,
the sun, the moon and the planets, there are some reasons why
astrology is not considered science.

Use of Evidence
 Study made by Shawn Carlson in 1985. Tested the idea
if astrologers have the special ability to interpret
personalities from astrological readings.
Absence Of Explanation
 Astrologers the never attempted to explain how exactly
the position or movement of celestial objects influence
human being. Astrologers also believe in the presence
of undetected and unexplained “ Special Force” which
each planet radiates.
Seeing the Stars
Many constellations appear in the sky depending on
 Location and seasons
 Circumpolar constellations, constellations appear year-round
though at different hours.
 Earth rotation and revolution and a person’s location on Earth.
 Tilt of the Earth.

 Constellations that can be seen year round from the Philippines

and in all the northern hemisphere countries.
 Ursa Major ( the Great Bear)
 Ursa Minor ( the Small bear)
Crux ( Southern Cross) is an
example of constellation that can Orion, in some western Countries it
be seen in the early night sky in can only be seen from late fall to early
the Philippines during late April springtime
to late May, but it can seen in the
southern hemisphere year –round
Constellation that can be seen in the southern hemisphere but never seen in
the far northern part.
Why does the arrangement of stars not change?
 Though the stars and the other heavenly bodies are moving
toward or away from each other, the distance they travel is not
much noticeable because of the vast distance from the earth.

 There is very little change in the angle of the line of sight

between Earth and the stars. It will take millions or even
billions of years for the arrangement to be recognized.

Light year, to measure their distances.

One light year equals the distance light years in one year
( speed of light vacuum= 299 792 458m/s) the distance is
about 9.5 trillion km
