Why is it important?
Dressing professional for a job is important for many reasons. First and foremost,
apparence is the first thing someone knows about you before even talking. Making
a good first impression is crucial. Do you want to receive respect from your
coworkers and boss? Dressing respectfully will grant you this.
Do’s for Dressing
❖ Asses the environment where you will be working. Dress according to the
tasks that will be performed at your job
❖ Buy clothes that not only suit you, but also fit you!
❖ Do get outfit ironed and dry cleaned.
❖ Do polish your shoes and heels
❖ Do accessorize if job allows so but don’t over do it causing you to look flashy
or tacky
Don't for Dressing
❖ Don’t have exposed breast, bottoms or bellies
❖ Don’t over do cologne or perfume; some people are sensitive
❖ Don’t wear bright/overpowering colored makeup
❖ Don’t wear wrinkled or stained attire
❖ Don’t wear comfortable clothes or shoes that might cause you to be distracted
or feel pain
How to dress for a business casual event
A business party can be fun because you finally get to let go with the people who
you work with! However, make sure that you still uphold your professional and
respectable reputation.

❖ Don’t wear anything worn out or unpresentable (an old, ratty, worn out T-shirt)
❖ Do wear a nice outfit that you feel comfortable in

A first impression can either make or break someone’s opinion of you. It is
important to do it right.

❖ Do make eye contact and smile

❖ Do make sure your hair and makeup is intact
❖ Have a welcoming tone in your voice
❖ Make sure your clothes are clean and not wrinkled
