1.00 SCOPE :

Paper Insulated copper winding wires.

2.00 CONDUCTOR :

Soft annealed, high conductivity copper, conforming to IS : 191 – 1980.

Physical contains, dimensional tolerances etc will conform to IS : 4800 (Part I & II) – 1968

3.00 INSULATION :

Paper covering will conform to IS : 7404 (Part I) – 1991 paper covering will be of ordinary grade

4.00 PACKING

4.01 Packing material used will be treated against termite and, the reels / drums shall be well protected to make them water / weather
proof and transport worthy.

4.02 The wound copper portion in the bobbin will be wrapped with polythene sheet and then with corrugated sheet and tied – up with
plastic strip.
5.00 MARKING

The lable securely attached to the drums will have following information.

5.01 Manufacturer’s name or trade mark

5.02 Dimensions of the conductor

PAPER INSULATED COPPER WINDING STRIP

1.00 SCOPE :

Paper Insulated copper winding Strips with two or more layers of paper.

2.00 CONDUCTOR :

Soft annealed, high conductivity copper, conforming to ETP grade IS : 191 – 1980.

Physical contains, dimensional tolerances etc will conform to IS : 6160 – 1971

3.00 INSULATION :

Paper covering will conform to IS : 7404 (Part II) – 1991

4.00 PACKING

PRESS BORAD

1.00 SCOPE :

Solid press board for electrical purposes, dyed or of natural colour, having a calendered finish and supplied in an unimpregnated condition.

2.00 STANDARDS:

IS : 1576 – 1992, specification for solid press board for electrical purposes.

3.00 GRADE:

Calendar or Pre-compressed Pressboard as per I.S.

4.00 PACKING:

Packed securely in wooden cases with suitable water proof lining to prevent ingress of moisture in transit.

5.00 TEST CERTIFICATE

Test Certificate in accordance with the relevant standard will be supplied with consignment, when stipulated in the order.

6.00 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA:

COLD ROLLED GRAIN ORIENTED STEEL

1.00 SCOPE:

This specification covers cold Rolled Grain Oriented (CRGO) Transformer grade, Electrical steel to BSS:601 or equivalent.

2.00 COMPLIANCE WITH NATIONAL STANDARD:

BSS: 601 or equivalent International Standard.

3.00 GRADE:

M4,M5 or better.

4.00 THICKNESS:

0.27mm, 0.3 mm with a maximum deviation of +/- 0.03mm.

5.00 STACK FACTOR:

97% minimum with original insulation coating.

6.00 FINISH:

Surface shall be free from any defects; and be uniformly coated on both sides as part of its manufacturer process, with an insulation.
7.00 PACKING:

Metal to be protected against humidity, water and mechanical damages by three successive layers of rust – proof paper, polythene paper and steel
sheet wrapped one over the other.

Provision be made for inserting wire rope at bottom of Pallet for lifting.

8.00 IDENTIFICATION:

Shall be made on the surface of the packing, indicating grade, and gross and net weights.

9.00 TESTING:
Samples shall be tested and test certificate incorporating the following results must be submitted for each consignment.

9.1 Grade.

9.2 Maximum core Loss at 1.5 Tesla and 1.7 Tesla.

9.3 Thickness.

9.4 Silicon content %.

10.00 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

TRANSFORMER OIL

1.00 SCOPE :

Transformer Oil, supplied in tankers or in drums.

2.00 GRADE & STANDARD:

The oil is of low viscosity type free from any additives and conforming to IS : 335 – 1993 with amendment No.1(April 1997)

3.00 SUPPLY:

3.01 By road tankers, of approx. capacity 10 KL. Tankers will be provided with an internal coat of oil resistance Epoxy paint and will be
thoroughly clean and moisture free before filling. Tanker shall first be flushed with good oil and the oil tested to check the condition of
tank. Precautions will be taken to prevent moisture and other contamination in transit by filling the space with inert gas under pressure
and by proper sealing of the lid.

3.02 By drums, of approx. capacity 200 liters. The drums will be new non returnable, made out of steel and epoxy coated internally. Each
drum will be flushed with oil before filling.

4.00 QUANTITY MEASUREMENT:

When supplied in tankers, the invoice will indicate the quantity in liters and the density and corresponding filling temperature for, converting the weight
into liters at receipt. Variations in quantity will be immediately reported to supplier, for adjustment.

5.00 TEST CERTIFICATE:

Each consignment will accompany Test Certificates in accordance with IS : 335 : 1993 on samples as taken after filling into the tanker / barrels.

SYNTHETIC RUBBER BONDED CORK SHEET
1.00 SCOPE :

Synthetic Rubber Bonded Cork Sheet.

2.00 BONDING MATERIAL:

Synthetic Rubber, neoprene or Nitrile.

The material shall conform to type – C as per Indian Standard IS – 4253 (Part II) – 1980.

4.00 MATERIAL & FINISH:

As per IS – 4253 (Part II) 1980 Grain size, fine, upto 15mm thick. (Passing through 1.00mm IS sieve and retained by 425 micron IS sieve)

5.00 TYPE:

‘C’ (very good oil resistant).

10.0 PACKING:

Sheets shall be packed in wooden cases lined up with plastic sheet to protect from moisture. Bituminous paper should not be used.

Every package shall be marked with name of supplier, size of sheets and description of material.

12.0 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA:

READ OXIDE ZINC CHROMATE

1.00 SCOPE :

(Brand name ) Ready mixed red oxide zinc chromate priming paint, for spray application.

2.00 STANDARD:

Material shall be of approved Brand and comply with the requirements (except colour) of Table 1 of IS : 2074 – 1992 when tested in accordance with
IS : 101 – 1964.

3.00 COMPOSITION:

Shall be subject to lead restriction according to IS:1303:1983.

4.00 CONSISTANCY:

Smooth, uniform and suitable for spray.

5.00 FINISH:

Smooth and matt.

6.00 SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE:

The material shall comply with Clause 5.6 of IS:2074:1992.

7.00 DRY ITEMS:

Surface dry : Not more than 2 hours.


Hard dry : Not more than 12 hours.

8.00 PACKING:
In 20 liters metal containers confirming to IS 1407:1980 or IS: 2552:1989.
9.00 MARKING:

The containers shall be marked with the following.

SYNTHETIC ENAMEL

1.00 SCOPE :

( Brand ) Machinery Enamel, Synthetic, exterior, finishing ; for use in painting system for protection against continued exposure outdoors.

2.00 STANDARD :

The Enamel shall be of approved brand and comply with the requirements of IS : 2932 – 1993.

3.00 MATERIAL

The material shall be based on synthetic resins, free from natural resins or their derivatives or their modification in any form when tested according
to IS: 101 ( P – 9 / Sec. 2 ) 1993.

4.00 COMPOSITION

As per Clause 6.1 of IS : 2932 – 1993.

5.00 CONSISTENCY :

The material shall be supplied in brushing consistency but shall be suitable for spraying after thinning with suitable thinner.

6.00 DRYING TIMES :

Surface dry 4 hours

Hard dry 12 hours

Tack free 24 hours


7.00 FINISH :

Smooth and glossy.

8.00 COMPATIBILITY :

The Enamel should be certified compatible with recommended primers, under coats and thinners.

1.00 SCOPE :

This specification lays down the requirements for the Porcelain parts of the Bushings of ratings from 1 KV to 36 KV CLASS to be used in Lightly
polluted atmospheres.

The dimensions covered in this specification essentially apply to the bushings used outdoor with lower ends immersed in oil.

2.00 DIMENSIONS :

The dimensions of the Porcelain parts of the bushings for the different voltage and current ratings shall be conforming to the following standards :

PROCELAIN BUSHING (FOR HIGHLY POLLUTETED)

1.00 SCOPE :

This specification lays down the requirements for the Porcelain parts of the Bushings of ratings from 12 KV to 36 KV CLASS to be used in
highly polluted atmospheres. The dimensions covered in this specification essentially apply to the bushings used outdoor with lower ends
immersed in oil.

2.0 DIMENSIONS :
The dimensions of the Porcelain parts of the bushings for the different voltage and current ratings shall be conforming to the following
standards.

(i) 12, 17.5 KV IS 8603 ( PART 1 – 1977 )


( 250, 630, 1000, 2000 / 3150 A )

(ii) 24 KV BUSHINGS IS 8603 ( PART III – 1977 )

RADIATORS
1.00 SCOPE :
This standard lays down the specification for Pressed Steel Radiators requires for oil cooled transformers.

2.00 TYPE :
Weldable construction / Flanged construction with square flanges for mounting on transformer without or with Radiator Valves.

10.0 PRESSURE TEST :

Each radiator shall be pressure tested for leak proofness under water at an air pressure of 1.5 kg / cm2 for a minimum period of 30 minutes.

11.0 PACKING AND MARKINGS :

End plate of each radiator shall be embossed with manufacturer’s name / trade mark.

Radiators shall be supplied strapped on wooden base or packed in wooden crates. Max weight of one crate shall be limited to 3 tonnes.

1.0 SCOPE :

The specification lays down for electrical insulation material made out of densified unimpregnated laminated wood.

The material used as well as finished laminate shall be compatible with transformer oil.

4.0 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES :

GAS OPERATED REALY
1.0 SCOPE : This specification covers requirements for gas operated relays intended for installation in the
connecting passage of oil between the main oil filled transformer tank and its conservator vessel.

2.0 TYPE : Double element mercury switch type relays normally open type with nominal pipe base 25, 50
and 80mm.

Single element mercury switch type oil surge relay suitable for OLTC with nominal pipe bore :
25mm

3.0 STANDARD : In general complying to IS 3637 - 1966

4.0 RATINGS : The standard ratings of gas operated relay shall be in accordance with table 1 of IS 3637 – 1966.

5.0 CONSTRUCTION : The construction of relay shall be conforming to Clauses 4.1. to 4.10 of IS 3637 – 1966.

6.0 TESTS : All the routine tests shall be carried out as per Clause 7.1.2 of IS 3637 – 1966 on each relay.

7.0 MARKINGS : The following particulars shall be marked strictly and permanently on every relay in a position
preferably visible from the front.

2.00 MATERIAL :

The tape shall be made of good quality cotton and shall be woven firmly and uniformly. The edges shall be uniform throughout. The tape shall be

6.1 The tape shall be wound tightly on hard ring with an internal diameter 15mm. The width of the ring shall not exceed the width of the tape.

6.2 As far as possible, every roll shall be supplied with single length length of tape, when a joint is absolutely necessary, the ends shall be
over lapped and sewn neatly

5.00 SUPPLY CONDITIONS

5.1 The clear view body of the breathers shall be transparent without defects or inclusions. The surface shall be free of scratches and
other mark. Cracks or joints on the body not permitted.
5.2 The top and bottom covers shall be of dismantling type without any permanent / adhesive joints with the clear view body

5.3 The mounting flange shall be integral with the top cover. Jointed construction is unacceptable
5.4 Oil cups shall have markings indicating the level to which oil is to be filled before put in service
5.5 The top and bottom covers shall have a smooth finish, free from defects such as cracks and blow holes. Filling of holes with M-seal or
other similar adhesive materials is not permitted.
5.6 Oil cups shall be fixed with spring clip arrangement at the bottom. The spring clips used shall be cadmium plated and passivated

5.7 Before filling into the breather, the silica gel shall be dried at 150OC for 30 minutes to drive away all absorbed moisture

5.8 After filling, both open ends shall be closed leak tight for preventing moisture in green during transport and storage

5.9 The tie rods shall be uniformly tightened with galvanized / cadmium plated nuts and plain washers
5.10 The Silica gel shall have grainy porous structure, free from extraneous impurities

2.06 Fill the spray gun with filtered paint.


2.07 Spray the paint to build 25 to 30 Microns
2.08 Re-coat before tack free time or after dry through time (Minimum 4 hours) if required

2.11 Maintain distance 350 to 500 mm between the gun and the transformer

2.01 Transfer transformer to finishing section after routine tests.

2.02 Fix (air tight) cap to breather pipe and pressure gauge to conservator

2.03 Apply air pressure of 0.35 Kg /Sq.cm or 5 lbs / sq. inches and watch for 2 hours

2.04 Spot & mark oil leakages if any from components and gasket joint arrest them

2.05 If oil leakages are at welded portions : Drain out oil below the marked levels and weld marked
portions

2.06 Fill filtered oil in transformer


2.07 Apply air pressure of 0.35 Kg / Sq. cm or 5 lbs / Sq. inches, ensure for no oil leakages. Checks
air pressure maintains minimum for 1 hours
