Introduction
 what is the meaning of Agro – Engine ?

 The term agro is extract from agriculture in short form and

Engine is the mechanical component's which produce the
work easy and efficient.
 Agricultural machinery is machinery used in
farming or other agriculture. There are many
of such equipment, from kinds of farm
implements.
 For examples Grass cutters, chainsaws, tillers,
pumps,and tractors etc.
What Is the Definition of GASOHOL ?
 GASOHOL is a mixture of premium petrol
(gasoline) with alchol,in this case ethanol.
 The use of gasohol can reduce fuel consumption
without having to modify the existing engine.
 The addition of ethanol content in gasohol tend to
increase the engine
 Experimental setup on Ignition system in SI
Engine.

 The term spark ignition engine refers to internal

combustion engine.
 where the combustion process of the air-fuel
mixture is ignited by a spark from a spark
plug.
 Spark – ignition engines are commonly refer
to as Gasoline Engines
 A four stroke spark ignition engines is an
Otto cycle
Fuel Properties
Parameters Methanol Gasoline
Molecular Formula CH3OH C8H15
Molecular weight 32 95-120
Oxygen content 50% 0%
Density (Kg/m3) 792 740
Flash point(ºc) 12 -45 to -38
Boiling point 64.5 25-215
Octane number 111 90-99
Auto-Ignition temperature 470 420
Air Fuel Ratio 6.47 14.8
Advantages of spark ignition systems

 Uniform distribution in multi cylinder engines Higher

volumetric Efficiency

 Reduced or eliminated detonation

 Manifold wetting is eliminated

 Atomization of the fuel is independent of cracking speed

and therefore starting the engine will be easier
Engine Performance
Performance of the engine is judged out for fuel
consumption rate (FCR)
It was seen that fuel consumption for pure gasoline was
minimum as compared to other fuel samples and it increases
with the increase in methanol-gasoline blend percentage.
This is the result presence of oxygen in the methanol-
gasoline blends which raises the octane value and helps in
complete combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber.
Effect of methanol-Gasoline blends on CO2
emission.
CO2 Emissions
CO2 Emissions in ppm

Gasoline M15 M25 M35 M45

Fuels

It was seen that carbon dioxide emissions tends to decreases with the increase
in blend percentage till M35 but for M45 it gives higher carbon dioxide
emissions .
Results and Conclusion
 The conclusion drawn from the research work is that methanol.

 If added in small amount makes the mixture rich but when added
in large amount makes the mixture lean.

 Increase in methanol blend leads to increase in fuel consumption

rate (FCR)

 When using the blend fuel in centrifugal governor based agro

engines.

 M15 and M25 Both shows reduction in hydrocarbon when

compared to other blends and gasoline. But M15 to considered the
best of all blended fuel as the fuel consumption.
