WHAT IS PERFORMING ARTS?
• Performing Arts is a form of art in which the artists
use their body, voices, or even inanimate objects to
show artistic expressions.

• Performing Arts is different from Visual Arts, wherein


artists use paint, canvas, or various materials to create
physical or static art.

• Performing Arts is performed in front of a live


audience.
WHAT IS PERFORMING ARTS?
• The word “Performing Arts” can refer to
dance, music, drama, and acrobatics.

• Performing Arts comes from a long way, but


during the 6th Century AD, Performing Arts
from the West has been extinct.

• During the Renaissance era, it saw or had its


revival in Italy and had been spread
throughout Europe.

• Before the word Danza (which means dance),


Ballo was used and it was credited by
Domenico da Piacenza.
WHAT IS PERFORMING ARTS?
• The very first opera was performed in
1597.

• During the 17th Century, Opera was the


choice of entertainment for its
aristocracy in Europe.

• Fast forward to the 19th Century, It saw its


growth in all social classes, and it had
been used to introduce gaslight to
theaters, burlesque, minstrel and the
stages.

• Theater in Philippines is as varied as the
cultural traditions and the historical
influences that shaped it through the
century.

• The Cultural Center of the Philippines, is


considered to be the premier place for
performing arts here in the Philippines. The
place is known to hold events for local and
international world-class guest artists.

has Spanish influences. Mainly, from
the people living in the lowlands or at
the mountains

introduced us to several performing arts such
as:

• Dancing
• Theatre
• Singing

• The Spaniards brought many dances that used a Maria Clara dress, with
embroidered long-sleeve that is made from Pineapple fibers.

• Possible, the most popular and best known dances comes from the Philippine
Lowlands.

• The lowlands have a passion for music


and it is a place of extreme beauty and love
of life and simplicity.

• Some well-known musicians in the


Philippines include the composer and a
Conductor, Rodolfo Cornejo. Antonino
Buenaventura; also a conductor. And lastly, Antonio J. Molino, a conductor and a
composer.
