THE INFLUENCE OF USING AUDIO VISUAL TOWARDS


STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY AT
SMP N 02 MUHAMMADYAH GISTING
BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM

Usually students in this era most of them are difficult to understand


the materials that given by teachers. Especially in english subject. In
speaking skill speciall for vocabulary. They are still lack of
vocabulary because they don’t rich any vocab. So they are still low
in communicate to each other.
Here the problem of teacher when they are teach their students in
learning activity they feel difficult because the class is passive
because the students don’t understand what the teachers says.
IDENTIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM

THE STUDENT LACK THE CLASS IS PASSIVE


OF VOCABULARY AND NOT ACTIVE
LIMITATION OF THE PROBLEM
 Based on identification of the problem above the researcher
focus on the influence of using audio visual towards students
vocabulary.
FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEM
Based on background of research above, the problems are
formulate as follow: “is there any influence of using audio
visual towards students vocabulary at SMP N 02
Muhammadiyah gisting?
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH
The objective of this research is to know whether any
influence of using audio visual towards students vocabulary at
SMP N 02 Muhammadiyah Gisting.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
DEFINITION OF VOCABULARY

According to Hatch and Brown vocabulary is a list of words for a


particular language or a list or set of word that individual speakers of
language might use

According to Hibert and Michael, vocabulary is the set of words for


which we know the meanings when we speak or read orally and the set of
words also that an individual can use when writing.
B. AUDIO VISUAL
 Prostano and Prostano (1982) asserted that the time
immemorial, audio-visual materials existed butwere not
incorporated into educational system”.

 In this research, the writer used a quantitative design which
was conducted with experimental research design
Population and Sampling
 two class one class for experimental class one class for
control class at SMP N 02 Muhammadyah Gisting
Sampling technique
 In this research, the researcher use Cluster Random
Sampling technique because the population is in groups and
homogenous.
Data Collection
 In collecting the data, the researcher will use tests. It is use to
measure the students’ vocabulary mastery. To collect the data,
the researcher use pre-test and post-test.
Instrument
 The research instrument is a tool to get data that used by the
researcher. In this research the researcher used a test to get
the data about vocabulary mastery.
