Membership Category

1. Corporate Member(MIE)

Member is a senior grade of IEI Corporate Member’s category and is


eligible to use designatory words MIE after the name.

 Eligibility:

 Should have 30 years of age.

 BE/B.Tech/Sec A&B Exam. of IEI or equivalent qualification.

 Eight years professional engineering experience in a position of


responsibility.

 Membership Fee: INR 4897


The Institute of Engineers(IEI)
2. Associate Member (AMIE)

Associates Member is an initial grade of IEI Corporate Member’s


category and is eligible to use designatory words AMIE after the
name.

 Eligibility:

 Should have 21 years of age.

 BE/B.Tech/Sec A&B Exam. of IEI or equivalent qualification.

 Shall be engaged/ shall have been engaged in the design or


execution or operation of Engineering works.

 Membership fee: INR 4189


Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication
Engineers(IETE)

For Member(M) Category


Candidate should possess following qualifications:
• BE/BTECH/AMIETE/ME/MTECH
• professional experience of at least five years during which he/she, should
have held a position of responsibility in an organization for a period of
four years in the discipline or shall have made a significant contribution
in Electronics and/or Telecommunications.
Membership Fee:
Above 35 Yrs: INR 4500
Above 45 yrs: INR 5000

The activities of the Students Chapter shall be primarily technical and shall include
the following for benefit of engineering students:
 The Students Chapters shall provide a learned workshop/clinic for the
development of socio-techno intellectual qualities of the members as well as for
encouraging their urge and surge for knowledge in a disciplined and guided
system.
 Organise lectures by corporate members and others on the subject of
engineering interest;
 Organise paper meetings, discussions, seminars and technical film shows on
selected subjects;
 Organise visits to engineering projects, construction sites, factories, workshops,
laboratories etc;
 Organise competitions on technical subjects including annual paper writing,
model building and quiz competitions;
 Promotion of social contacts among the students;
 Any other activity conducive to the technical and intellectual advancement of the
students.

To enable formation of a Chapter in the Department of Electronics & Communication


Engineering, minimum number of student members required is 20.

The Students’ Chapter shall be administratively managed within the institute


premises by a core committee consisting of the following members-

 Principal sir, Chairman of the committee

 Head, Department of ECE, Senior member of the committee.

 01 Advisor of the committee, faculty from Department of ECE.

 01 Convenor of the committee, faculty from Department of ECE

 02 students (01 boy, 01 girl) of ECE Deptt., student coordinators of the


committee.

The Students’ Chapter shall be administratively managed outside the premises by


a Committee of the Chapter comprising:

 One Advisor, who shall be a member of the faculty, nominated by the


managing authority of the respective engineering colleges.

 One Convenor who shall be a member of the Chapter to be elected by the


Committee of the Chapter from amongst themselves prior to the Annual
General Meeting.

 One member for each ten students attached to the Chapter or part thereof
subject to the minimum of three and maximum of ten to be elected at the
Annual General Meeting of the Chapter.

 The Chairman and Honorary Secretary of the State or Local Centre within
whose geographical boundaries a Chapter is established shall be ex-officio
members of the Committee of the Chapter.

 Participation in All India Technicians'/Students' Convention.

 Eligible to contest in the All India Students' Committee election.

Privileges of Students’ Members
After passing the final year examination, student members are eligible
for the following :
 Members of the students' chapter of Engineering Colleges, after passing the final B.E./B.Tech
Examination, may become Associate Member of Institution. The membership form can be
downloaded from IEI website www.ieindia.org under Membership tab.
 Student Members of engineering colleges/polytechnics are eligible to participate in
Students’ Design Competition every year being organised by National Design and
Research Forum.
 Associate Members are entitled to receive Chartered Engineer certificate on payment of
requisite fee.
 Entitled to receive IEI News and Technorama free of charge on their election as Associate
Member.
 Journals of IEI are available in soft copy through web and hard copy on concessional
rate.
 Freedom to choose journals from 15 engineering disciplines.
 Opportunities to gain and update knowledge and experience and access to information in a
variety of engineering and technology disciplines through participation in seminars, symposia,
conventions, workshops, etc. at national and international regional levels.
 Access to know-how and ideas from Corporate Members of the Institution about on
going R&D work in different engineering fields, use of latest technology, and demand of
engineering jobs/services in the national and international level.
