EL Capitan Theatre
EL Capitan Theatre
 In the early 1900s, Hollywood was a meek mingling of agricultural
and residential homes, but with the dawning of L.A.'s architectural
boom in the 1920s, things began to shift for the quiet town.
 Hollywood Boulevard evolved into a glistening thoroughfare of
restaurants, luxury apartments, and shops, and with Toberman’s
direction the opening of three historic theatres - The Egyptian in
1922, El Capitan in 1926, and the Chinese Theatre in 1927.
 The El Capitan Theatre opened on May 3, 1926 with the stage
production “The Charlot Revue of 1926.” The astounding fanfare
and the resulting front page Los Angeles Sunday Times headline
that read “Dazzling Opening For Hollywood’s First Home of Spoken

decades, The Paramount was the pulse of Hollywood

Earl Carroll Theatre
Earl Carroll Theatre
 Earl Carroll built his second famous theater at 6230 Sunset
Boulevard in Hollywood, California. It opened on December 26,
1938. As he had done at the New York theater, over the entrance

most beautiful girls in the world". An "entertainment palace", the
glamorous supper club-theater offered shows on a massive stage
that featured a 60' turntable with separately operated inner and

on the Earl Carroll Theatre's board of governors.
 The theater was sold following the 1948 deaths of Earl Carroll and

Hollywood wax museum
 The 'Hollywood Wax Museum' is a wax museum featuring replicas of
celebrities located on Hollywood Boulevard in the tourist district
in Hollywood, California. Among the wax replicas on display include those
of A-List stars, classic entertainers, and legendary singers (Elvis Presley).
 The museum, brainchild of entrepreneur Spoony Singh, opened on
February 25, 1965, and claims in promotional literature to be the only wax
museum dedicated solely to celebrities. It is the longest-running wax
museum in the United States.
 The Hollywood Wax Museum has appeared in the following movies and
TVshows: TheMechanic (1972), WesCraven's Cursed (2005), and
Americ a's Next Top Model (2007). The Hollywood Wax Museum is also
featured on the video game, Midnight Club: Los Angeles.
Hollywod Walk of Fame
 The Hollywood Walk of Fame may have begun its life as a Chamber
of Commerce marketing tactic, but today it’s one of Los Angeles’s
most famous tourist attractions, drawing an estimated 10 million
visitors each year. As a host of new celebrities, from Minnie Mouse
to Mark Hamill, get ready to make their (permanent) mark along
Hollywood Boulevard in 2018.
 The original idea for the Walk of Fame came from the Hollywood
Chamber of Commerce’s volunteer president E. M. Stuart in 1953, a
full seven years before construction began. According to a press he
proposed the idea as a marketing tactic to “maintain the glory of a
community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four
corners of the world.” It wasn’t until January 1956 that an official
proposal was submitted to the Los Angeles City Council
Hollywood Walk of fame
 There are 16 fictional celebrities with Walk of Fame stars
(more if you count The Muppets as multiple characters);
Mickey Mouse was the first to be inducted in 1978. Bugs
Bunny, Snow White, Woody Woodpecker, Big Bird, and
Snoopy followed. By the end of this year, that number will be
up to 17: Minnie Mouse will be getting her own star in 2018.
 As part of the Walk of Fame’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2010,
the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce buried a time capsule in the
same place the Walk originated, at the corner of Hollywood and
Highland. Price is Right icon Bob Barker was on hand to help bury
the capsule, which contains various items that commemorate the
landmark, plus a note from Barker himself that reads: “Have your
pets spayed and neutered.” Here’s hoping the people of 2060—the
year the time capsule is set to be opened
