Abstract

Today, with rising fuel costs, increasing concerns for global

climate change, and a growing worldwide demand for
electricity, utilizing renewable sources such as solar power
becomes necessity rather than a luxury.
The main focus is on providing energy at reasonable price but
soon the day will come when the utilities will be focusing on
encompassing sustainable use and environmental improvement
into their agendas. Unlike conventional generation, the sunrays
are available at no cost and generate electricity pollution-free.

The problem is the waste of renewable energy resources as in our

system, we all depend on WAPDA. In solar based projects a lot of
energy is wasted because of inefficient use. Moreover, in existing
system flow of power is in forward direction.
However, we can implement bi-directional flow of power with
Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithm which results in storing
the excess solar energy with maximum power extract from the
solar.

Methodology

The input to the Solar Panel is temperature and solar irradiance, in other words
DC input. This DC input is fed to a boost converter which then boosts the voltage
to maximum by using Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm. This
boosted DC output is fed to a single phase inverter which provides an AC. The
transformer step ups the inverter voltage to 220V that is used in residential
homes.
The ZCD (zero crossing detector) used as a comparator for monitoring the
under/over voltages and also monitor the natural frequency.
