Topic:- Water pollution and its impact on Human health

Introduction
Water is the most vital element among the natural
resources, and is crucial for the survival of all living organisms
including human, food production and economic development.
Today there are many cities worldwide facing an acute shortage
of water and nearly 40% of the world’s food supply is grown
under irrigation and a wide variety of industrial processes
depends on water- its regional and seasonal availability.
The quality of water is affected by human activities and is
declining due to the rise of urbanization, population growth,
industrial production, climate change and other factors. The
resulting water pollution is a serious threat to the well-being of
both the Earth and its population.
Measurement of water pollution is carried out by
analysing water samples with physical, chemical and biological
tests. Control of water pollution can be achieved by appropriate
waste water treatment, providing safely managed sanitation
services for people who are currently without access,
agricultural waste water treatment, erosion and sediment
control from construction sites, and control of urban runoff .
Theoretical Background
In recent years water quality problems have attracted
increasing attention from authorities and communities throughout
the world, especially developing countries but also in countries in
transition from centrally planned economies to market economies.
Degradation of surface and groundwater sources has previously been
an inherent consequence of economic development and remedial
action to compensate for or to reduce, environmental impacts have
always been a lesser priority.
The International community has now acknowledged the
severity of the problems incurred by deteriorating water quality and
agreed formally to take action to protect the quality of fresh water
resources.
The percentage of Diarrhea, hepatitis and typhoid is
more as compared to other diseases. Hair loss is one of the
diseases that affect humans in that area. Lead and selenium are
the most prominent in it. When water travels from the old
pipes, then led contaminate the water. It causes hair loss in the
population.
Statement of the study
Over two thirds of Earth’s surface is covered by water;
less than a third up by land. As Earth population continues to
grow, people are putting ever-increasing pressure on the
planet’s water resources. In a sense, our oceans, rivers, and
other inland room, but so their quality is reduced. Poor water
quality means water pollution.
We know that pollution is a human problem because it is
a relatively recent development in the planet’s history: before
the 19th century Industrial Revolution, people lived more in
harmony with their immediate environment. As Industrialization
has spread around the globe, so the problem of pollution has
spread with it.
It was once popularly believed that the oceans were far too big
to pollute . Today, with around 7 billion people on the planet, it
has become apparent that there are limits. pollution is one of
the signs that humans have exceeded those limits. Water
pollution can be defined in many ways. Usually, it means one or
more substances have built up in water to such an extent that
they cause problems for animals or people. Thus, water
pollution is all about quantities: how much of a polluting
substance is released and how big a volume of water it is
released into.
Objective of the study
• Prevent pollution at source.

• Encourage, develop and apply the best available technical

solutions.

• Ensure that the polluters pays for the pollution and control
arrangement.

• Focus protection on heavily polluted areas and river stretches.

• Involve the public in decision making.

Rationale of the study
Our rationale for our project is to treat water pollution
because over the years water pollution has increased because of
man made pollution. Our reasons for this is because water is
important for the survival of the human race and water is being
polluted by man made waste, food waste and factory waste.
Research design
In this study, design adopted is descriptive which includes
surveys and facts-finding enquiries of different kinds. The
descriptive research design is considered as the ideal design to
examine the effectiveness of online advertising on social
networking sites.
1.Database design- Both primary and secondary data are used
to collect information because combining both types of data
gives a profound understanding of the quantitative data.

Primary data:- Primary data has been collected directly

from sample respondent through questionnaire and with the
help of interview.
Secondary data:- Secondary data has been collected from
standard textbooks, newspapers, magazines, websites, journals.
2. Measurement design- Depending upon the variables under
study we may use four scales of measurements to measure the
data. The four scales are;
• Nominal scale
• Ordinal scale
• Interval scale
• Ratios

3. Sampling design- Sampling design is definite plan determine

before any data is actually obtaining for a sample from a given
population. The researcher must decide the way of selecting a
sample.
Sampling Technique;
Sample random methods is selected on the convenience
of the researcher.

Sample Size;
Sample size is 30 numbers
Scope of the study
The study provides evidence that local communities are
suffering from a variety of health problems that could be a
direct or indirect result of the discharge and flow of waste water.
By using of river water for washing clothe and bath many water
born disease spread. However fever, cholera, dengue, malaria
and other epidemic disease also available in this area. The
polluted situation of the river material and child health of nearly
riverbank slam are in a danger bank.
Limitations of the study
• The sample size is limited to 30 number of peoples hence the
result of the study cannot be taken as universal.

• Substances that make the water polluted are not included in

the study. Other physical and chemical attributes not
mentioned.
