Definition:

Online banking or E-banking is an electronic


payment system that enables to conduct
financial transactions on a website.
First Online Banking in the-

United States:
Online banking was first introduced in the early 1980s in New York.
Four Major Banks- Citibank, Chase Manhattan, Chemical and
Manufacturers Hanover offered home banking services.

U.K.:
It was set by Bank of Scotland for customers of the Nottingham
Building Society (NBS) in 1983.

India:
ICICI bank is the first one to introduced in 1994.

Core Banking is networking of branches, which enables Customers to

Internet banking is a service that allows customers to access and

TELE BANKING
Tele banking is a service provided by a bank or other
financial institution, that enables customers to perform over the
telephone a range of financial transactions which do not involve
cash or documents (such as cheques), without the need to visit a
bank branch or ATM. Telephone banking times are usually longer
than branch opening times, and some financial institutions offer
the service on a 24-hour basis.

SMART CARD
A smart card, chip card, or integrated circuit
card (ICC), is a credit card sized card with an
embedded integrated circuit. Smart cards are
typically made of plastic. Many smart cards include
a pattern of metal contacts to electrically connect to
the internal chip. Others are contactless, and some
are both. Smart cards can provide
personal identification, authentication, data storage,
and application processing.

KIOSK BANKING
A kiosk (pronounced KEE-ahsk) is a small, free-standing
physical structure that displays information or provides a
service.

This is the latest development on the remote banking front, also


known as “Touch Screen” banking. A kiosk is a self-service
banking terminal that can be operated with both debit and
credit cards. The Debit/Credit card can be swiped at against the
card reader at the kiosk.
