CTQ
• Extend the 9FA DLN-2.0 combustion system inspection intervals
• Maintain or improve the 400 fired start combustion inspection interval
requirement
Approach
Combine field experience and analysis to identify components which
Inhibit extended life and upgrade those components from the baseline product
• Super B TBC/APS bond coat - Liner & TP
• Improved cloth seals for TP
• Improved TP life with integral mount and scoops
• Fuel Nozzle wear coatings
• Thimbled Flow Sleeve
• Optimized 2Cool Aft-end liner
• Structural reinforcements to zipper strip
• Improved End Cover design
• Diffusion start fuel nozzles
System Design Overview – Apply common design for PG9311 and PG9351 EL where possible:
End Cover Cap: Stellite 6 Wear Coatings
- Lifing Analysis -Same as 12K design - Cap and Liner Hula Seals
- 1st Quarter 02 -12K/110 start validation - Forward TP mount (Bullhorn)
incorporation at Azko Dolesto (2000) w/ FSX-414 H-blocks
of Braze Leak Liner:
RCA Redesign - Same as 9351 design
- Super B TBC
- Hast-X to Nimonic 263
- Eliminate aft weld
- 2-Cool ™ aft end
- Double Hula Seal
Transition Piece:
-same as 9351
-Integral Mount
-Cloth Seals
-Super B TBC
Fuel Nozzles
-Oil/Water Cartridge
tip wear improvements
-New Diffusion Start tip
-Cast Fared Gas nozzles
(same casting as 7241) Flowsleeve Assy:
- Same as 9351
- Profile changed for better
Liner Cooling.
- Cross Fire Retainer Clips (Baseline 9311 shown)
Redesigned.

Field Validation
PG 9311 EL Combustor Characterization
Objective:
Validate critical component Temperatures and Gas Turbine
operability of the Extended life Combustion System.
Mini-Inspection Plan
Proposed Schedule for Mini-Inspection @ 1,000 – 1,500 Fired hours (dates estimated only):
Day 1: Begin Outage on Unit
Day 2: Remove instrumented hardware - replace with new EL components
Plug Instrumentation ports in manhole covers as required
Detailed inspection of Instrumented Caps, Liners, and TP’s
Full Borescope Inspection of all other chambers (2 through 17)
Day 4: Assuming no issues are encountered, restart unit
Perform normal tuning split checks up to base-load
Day 6: After tuning has been verified, Combustion team departs site
