Challenges
• Time
-Time is always an issue for educators. I continue to
arrange my schedule in a way that supports balanced
literacy for my students

• Support
-I am blessed to have supports in place within my
district to help all of our learners grow. However, the
way intervention conducted is not benefiting my
students.
Conclusion
I commit to…
-Making literacy discussion meaningful
-Incorporating literacy circles and open inquiry activities
-Incorporating a daily read aloud into my schedule
-Conducting think aloud writing activities to craft modeled writing pieces
together with my students
-Creating a schedule to confer with students on a consist basis during
independent reading and writing times
-Focusing on before, during, and after reading activities within guided reading
instruction
-Infusing grammar into guided reading instruction
-Assessing students understanding of reading through reflection activities and
personal connection projects
I will always…
stick to what I believe in and what I know to be best
for my students. I will create an environment that
supports literacy learning for all of my students. I will
advocate for my students and continue to share the
importance of providing all students with balanced
literacy opportunities all day long. I will continue to
learn, grow, and evolve in order to become the best
literacy teacher I can be.
