 Abstract
Examination Branch is an integral part of any educational
organization. Examination Branch always requires huge man
power. By automating the work of examination branch, the work
thus reduces and man power also decreases. Automating the
examination branch is done by three modules, which are named
as Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3. Each module has a unique
functionality and all the modules are integrated under one web
application. Specification or features of each modules are
explained. Module 1 is created for Automating the Seating Plan.
Module 2 is for Generating Students Report. Module 3 is for
Generating Faculty Performance.

Module 1 is all about Automated Seating Arrangement. This
Module is built upon HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP (for APIs
Node.js has been used) to build out front end application and for
the backend database we use SQL (Optionally MongoDB is used)
for non blocking I/O model to make it light weight and efficient.
The Admin/User of this software will select the denomination of
the seating plan i.e.; number of rooms and it’s configuration,
then proceed on to select the year and block for the seat
allotment. Then the application generates the seating plan both
for classes and notice board, as well as the attendance sheet and
allows to take print of the plan. For external exams, report of
total papers will be generated.

 Introduction
Automation of Examination Branch comprises of three modules.
Which are divided into three components and each component
does a particular automation process, which are automatic seat
allotments for both internal and external exams. The second is
about student management and report generation. Third one is
about generating the performance of faculty. All these modules
work together with provided interfaces seamlessly.

 Existing System
Till now the examination branch has been using excel sheets -
pivot tables and some other formulae to generate the seating
plan. First the admin/user will load the student database in the
premade excel sheet which has the formulae. After that he/she
will manually denominate each room for all the available blocks.
Then they will give the further settings for the examination. Here
they separated core and non core branches and made the
seating plan, by taking one core and non core student. Finally the
seating plan is generated in the excel, from where they will take
print.

 Proposed System
Module I: In this newly proposed system, the complete work is
automated. The user/admin will select denomination i.e.;
allocation is based on 6x4, 8x3 or custom room configuration.
Then select the year and rooms from specific blocks for seat
allotment and simply click a button. Our System does all kind of
computations and generates the seating plan based on given
inputs. The generated output contains Attendance Sheets,
Notice Board Sheets and Room Wise Seating Arrangement. It
also generates Room Wise Paper Report for External
Examinations. For Examinations held on campus, there is an
option to either jumble or not jumble the Roll Numbers. All of
these are saved on temporary database for future referencing.

 Literature Review
• Thesis Statement: Automating the work done by examination
branch mostly without much human resource.
• How can we automate the examination branch and most of
their activities?
• There are three main components which are to be automated
i.e.; Seat Allotment of Students, Student Report Generation
and Faculty Performance Report .
• All these components can be connected via an interface and
work together.
• These modules are integrated and tested to work seamlessly
and built under one platform which is based on web.
