Joystick and Valve control

the Boom cylinder, Tilt
cylinder, Telescopic cylinder,
and Auxiliary function.

A separate voltage signal

controls spool position and
flow for each section of the
valve. Voltage signal moves
spool to supply flow to either
the A or B port.
System schematic (see manual).
System schematic (see manual).

Joystick Neutral switch activates a relay that connects electrical

power to the actuators on the valve sections, and closes a solenoid
that dumps LS port of valve inlet to tank.

Auxiliary spool section has additional relay security – Interlocks

must be activated before electrical power is supplied to actuator 4.

Auxiliary control can also be switched to a different input in the

cab. A relay disconnects signal pin of actuator 4 from the joystick
signal (prop 4) and connects it to a signal from a potentiometer.

Diagnosis Information - General

Function Not Responding to Joystick Movement:

Isolate hydraulic vs. electronic symptom.

-block LS port (energize LS valve or install plug in LS
port of valve inlet)
-with engine running, joystick in Neutral, operate each
section manually.
-if function does not operate normally, continue with
hydraulic inspection.
-if function does operate normally, continue with
electronic inspection.
Troubleshooting Information – Hydraulic Inspection
Function Not Operating when Spool moved out of Neutral:
Install Pressure Gages in Hydraulic Circuit
-Test Port on PVG32 inlet (pump or inlet pressure]
-Between LS port and Dump valve
-At at least one work port – two is best
Measure Pressures – engine at idle
-Spools in Neutral, inlet pressure should be standby pressure. No
pressure, check pump flow.
-Energize LS Dump valve, and move a spool. Workport pressure and
LS pressure should both increase, and be equal. Inlet pressure should
also increase, and be higher than LS pressure.
-If two spools are actuated at once, LS pressure should equal the
larger pressure, and inlet pressure should be higher than that.
Troubleshooting Information – Hydraulic Inspection

Possible Faults

-LS Dump valve not closing – LS pressure dumps to

tank.
-Relief valve stuck open – inlet or workport
-Low pump flow
-Stuck or leaking LS shuttle ball in valve
-Leak in Cylinder
Troubleshooting Information – Electronic Inspection

Measure voltages
-Engine should not need to be running, but key will
need to be turned on.

-Measure supply (+) voltage at electrical actuators

and at joystick. Pin 2 of actuator connector should
go to battery voltage when joystick is moved out of
Neutral. LED on dump valve should light up.
-Measure signal voltage at electrical actuators and at
joystick. Pin 1 of actuator connector should vary
from 25-75% [approximately 3 to 9 volts] of supply
voltage as corresponding joystick function is
moved.
Troubleshooting Information – Electronic Inspection

Possible Faults
-No supply voltage to Joystick or Actuators check
LED’s in junction box.
-Relay not closing when joystick moved out of
Neutral. Faulty relay, or no output from Neutral
switch.
-Signal wire short to + or -, or open. Spool should
go to Neutral when joystick in Neutral.
-No pilot pressure to electrical actuator. All
actuators would be slow or non responsive. Pilot
pressure valve stuck open, or no oil flow to inlet.
