GOD OF SMALL THINGS: A NOVEL ANALYSIS

Purpose of the study


• To describe linguistic features employed in the novel which
are categorized in the following: modal verbs, conjunctions,
prepositions, and signaling nouns which the investigations of
the said linguistic features have examined towards the
description of the linguistic preferences of the said novel.
Reason for choosing the novel, God of Small Things as the focus
of the study:
• In order to have a better understanding what this linguistic
features talking all about and discover how Indian authors use
the English language in Writing and translating their own
literature, whether they follow the rules and ways in the
English language.
Statement of the Problem
• This study aimed to recognize the linguistic features used of
the novel analysis such as modal verbs, conjunctions,
prepositions, for detailed description of the interpretation
signaling nouns (SNs) was use as its basis.
• Specifically, the study aimed to answer the following
questions:
1. What are prevalent modal verbs articulated in the novel?
2. What are constant conjunctions apparent in the novel?
3. What are repeatedly prepositions revealed in the novel?
4. What are frequent Signaling Nouns (SNs) revealed in the
novel?
Methodology

• This study also utilizes the descriptive method of research in


order to describe linguistic features employed in the novel.
This study is descriptive by nature, the actual use of analysis
of the novel provides an accurate portrayal of characteristics of
a particular individual, situation, or group. The frequency
count, percentile rank of the linguistic features of the novel
and the analysis of extracts of the novel are utilized in this
study.
