ATTENTION PLEASE!
All students of SMP Englishiana are invited to join some competition that
will be held on 17 August 2016 to celebrate Indonesian Independence Day.
There will be Running, swimming, and many other interesting competition.

What is Announcement?
• Announcement is something said, written, or printed
which is containing information about an event that has
happened or is going to happen.
• The purpose is to inform something to public.
• Announcement can be spoken (oral) or written.
• The social function of the announcement text is to
share planned/ arranged activities/ agenda

Generic Structure of Announcement
Setiap jenis tek mempunyai social function berbeda dan kerananya

juga memiliki pola susunan yang berbeda pula. Adapun generic structure
announcement adalah sebagi berikut:
1. Title/Attention Getter :Ini adalah bagian yang paling penting karena mewakili
isi keseluruhan dari pengumuna tersebut. Meski begitu kadang tidak
disebutkan dengan jelas.
2. Opening.Ditujukan untuk siap pengumumannya.
3. Content/explanation: Penjelasan lebih lanjut tentang pengumunan tesebut.
Biasanya terdiri dari informasi dasar yang mencakup: jenis kegiatan, waktu,
tempat, dan partisipant.
4. Closing: Penjelasan lebih lanjut tentang pengumunan tesebut. Biasanya
terdiri dari Announcer (siapa yang memberikan pengumuman).

Languange Features
The use of positive and negative imperative (instruction and prohibition). Imperative sentences are
used to issue a command or instruction, make a request, or offer advice. Basically, they tell people
what to do.
Imperative sentences usually end with a period but can occasionally end with an exclamation
point.
These sentences are sometimes referred to as directives because they provide direction to whomever
is being addressed.
There are 2 types of imperative sentences:
1. Positive imperative. Example :
• Pass the salt.
• Move out of my way!
• Shut the front door.
• Find my leather jacket.
• Be there at five.
• Play ball!
2.Negative imperative, Example :
• Don’t open the window
• Don’t pour the water
• Don’t close the door
