Statement of the Problem

The problem that will be discuss here is,” Can role play improve the
speaking ability of the eleventh grade students of SMK N 2 Jepara
in the academic year 2014/2015?”

Objective of the Research

“To find out Role Play can improve speaking ability of the eleventh
grade students of SMK N 2 Jepara in the academic year
2014/2015”.

Significant of the Research

The writer hopes that the research give significant advantages for:

Limitation of this research is to describe the achivement of the


students’ speaking ability of the eleventh grade students of SMK
N 2 Jepara in academic year 2014/2015 taught by using role
play.

AND 2.1 Teaching English in SMK N 2 Jepara
HYPOTHESIS

Teaching English in SMK N 2 Jepara is based on the 2013 Curriculum.


Teaching English in SMK N 2 Jepara is taught once meeting a week and
each meeting consists of 90 minutes.

2.2 Speaking

1. Tarigan (in Syukur, 2012:23) states that “speaking is a tool


used for conveying message or aims which is arranged and
growth with concord the needs of hearer or listener”.
2. Mulyasa (2004:39), “Ability means a power to do a task or
job burdened to them which is own by each person”.

2.5 Action Hypothesis

In this research, the explanation above suppose to the action


hypothesis that there is “Role Play as Technique of teaching can
improve the students’ speaking skill of SMK N 2 Jepara in the
academic year 2014/2015.”
Setting and Characteristic of the Research Subject

SMK N 2 Jepara as the place of the research. This school is located on RMP.
Sosrokartono No.1 street Pengkol Jepara, phone/fax (0291) 591137 zip code 59415.
He uses the eleventh grade students as research subject. The writer takes the XI Textile
class as the subject in doing this research. Class XI Textile consist of 30 girls students.

Variable of the Research

Input Variable : the speaking ability of the students of the class XI Textile of SMK
N 2 Jepara;
Process variable : the use of Role Play to teach the students of the class XI Textile of
SMK N 2 Jepara;
Output variable : the result of speaking ability of the students of the class XI Textile
at SMK N 2 Jepara taught by using Role Play.
