INTRODUCTION TO JIO
• Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (popularly known as Jio), is a mobile network
operator in the country. It is owned by Reliance Industries, headquartered in
Mumbai. Jio provides 4G LTE services and is the only VoLTE (Voice over LTE)
service provider in India.
• The service, which was launched for all users on September 5, 2016 with a
‘Welcome Offer,’ was originally introduced in beta for only Reliance
employees on December 27, 2015, to mark the 83rd birth anniversary of
Dhirubhai Ambani, founder of Reliance Industries.
• Jio had originally tied up with domestic mobile phone maker Intex to
produce 4G mobile smartphones. But in the beginning of 2016, the
company also launched its own LYF series of smartphones, starting with
Water 1.
INTRODUCTION TO JIO

• Young employees- Jio boasts almost 60,000 young employees, working

towards building the best data service network in India. The average age of
Jio employees is 30.
• Looking forward to partner with digital entrepreneurs- Since it has already
built a huge platform, Jio is looking forward to partner with young digital
entrepreneurs to accelerate penetration of digital services and internet
consumption in the country.
PRINCIPLES OF
MANGEMENT IN JIO
PLANNING
• Jio is planning to cover 99% of India's population with the help of loT network and
ISRO satellites by the end of 2019.
• To provide the reach of 4G in rural areas and remote parts of India through its 4G
LTE based service by connecting more than 400 LTE sites which are beyond the
reach of terrestrial back haul service. Laying fibre is tough due to high
development cost and right of way issues (ROW). Microwave is more challenging in
hilly areas and islands due to difficult terrain and huge investment. Jio on satellite
back hauling have a bulk capacity of 2 satellite of ISRO. Main focus areas are North
East, J&K, uttaranchal, A&N and Lakshadweep with decent speed of 10-30 Mbps.
• Jio is constantly improving its 3 spectrum band 2300 MHz, 1800 MHz & 850 MHz.
• Jio will have its 5G ready network by mid 2020 within 6 months of allocation of
spectrum which would be in testing period from mid 2019 which recommend
spectrum of 3300 MHz- 3600 MHz.
PLANNING
• Jio 5G will be 50 to 60 times faster than 4G network 1.5 to 2 Gbps expected 5G
speed.
• Jio with the help of Samsung will be developing and dominating 5G network in
India.
• Globally device supporting 5G Technology are expected to be available mid 2019
which will consist of high end models. US based Qualcomm and Taiwan based
Media Tek are currently developing their 5G modem. These things would be great
advantage as Jio would be the first mover under 5G technology.
• Jio is also planning to launch it's 5G LTE mobile which is Jio phone 3 on 15th August
2020. Which would be a screen touch phone costing Rs 3,500 (Re 2,000 refunded
after 2 years) or upgrade from Jio 2 to jio 3 for Rs 2,500.
• By the end of 2020 Jio has planned to capture more than 50% of telecomm sector
with active population of 600 Million in India.
ORGANIZING
• Organizing is the process of defining and grouping the activities of the
entire process and establishing the authority and relationship among them
• As a new player in the telecom industry jio’s main aim was on mobile
network and data.
• Jio had a partnership with 8 carriers-british telecom,deutsche
telecom,millicom,MTS,orange,rogers,teliasonera,tim.
• A lot of organizing work was done before the launch of jio as they had
planned to provide free data voice calls and sms facilities to their customers.
• The activities were grouped together and long process were eliminated, like
the sim activation and verification process was made simple by jio.
ORGANIZING
• Different departments were formed and the work was distributed .
• Each department was assigned with proper authority and responsibility.
• The it department was given the work to develop the Jio apps, the R&D
department had to work on Jio phone etc
• As they wanted to cover their network throughout the country different
groups were formed and were assigned with different states.
• All the groups were duly assigned with authority responsibility and
accountability.
• A well organized departments and groups have led to the success of jio
today.
STAFFING

The term 'Staffing’ relates to the recruitment, selection, development,

training and compensation of the managerial personnel. Staffing, like all other
managerial functions, is the duty which the apex management performs at all
times.
The selection procedure in Jio is completed in following three steps:
1. Written test (Aptitude)
2. Technical written test
3. Technical and HR interview
