TRADITIONAL
TECHNIQUES
APPLIED TO
CONTEMPORARY
CREATION
 Art is considered
an “artifact”
when it is directly
experience and
perceived.
 When we experienced
a work indirectly or
through medium like
film or radio, we
describe it as a
“recorded” or
documented artwork.
Example:
Documentation of a
performance
Photograph of a painting
DVD or CD of a film
Novel read from an
electronic tablet
Contemporary artist
are producing
artworks that are
more process-based
,site-specific,
interactive, and
collaborative.
“Mark Salvation
Secret Garden 2,
2010” is created
purposefully foe a
small room at the
Vargas Museum.
The interactivity of
games is also a core
element in the early work
of Ikoy Ricio, who
printed a set of trump
cards that had image of
Philippines car wrecks,
complete with body
