Business Ethics

 Also known as Corporate Ethics

 Is a form of appliedethics or professional ethics that
examines ethical principle and moral or ethical
problem that arises in business environment.
Ethics

 Rules of behavior based on ideas and about what is

morally good and bad.
Major Branches of Business Ethics

 Meta Ethics – is about the theoretical meaning and reference of moral

propositions and how their truth values maybe determined.
 Normative Ethics- about the practical means of determining a moral
course of actions.
 Applied Ethics – about how outcomes can be achieved in specific
situations.
 Moral psychology- about how moral capacity or moral agency develop
and what is nature.
 Descriptive Ethics- about how moral capacity or moral value people
actually abide.
THREE TYPES OF BUSINESS

 1.Service Business- a service type of business provides intangibles

products
 Product with no physical form
 Service form offers professional skill, expertise, advice and other similar
products.
 2. Merchandizing Business – this type of business buy product wholesale
sale price and sells the same at detailed price.
 They are known as buy and sell
 3, Manufacturing Business- unlike a merchandizing business buys products
with the intentions of using them as material in making a new product thus
 There is a transformation of the products purchased.
 A manufacturing business combines new material,labor and factors
overhead on its production process.
 They manufactured good will then be sold to costumers.
FORMS OF BUSINESS ORGANIZATION

 1. SOLE PROPRIATORSHIP – is a business owned by only one person

 It is easily to set up and is the least costly among all forms of ownership.
 2. PARTNERSHIP – is a business owned by two or more person who
contribute resources into entity.
 3. CORPORATION – is a business organization that has a separate legal
personality form it owners.
 The ownership in a stock corporation is represented by share of stocks.
 In addition to those basic forms of business ownership these are some
other type of organization that are common today.
