the workplace’?

◦What does it consist of?


English in the workplace
◦This course is designed to introduce you to
both oral and written communication skills,
that may be needed in the workplace.
◦You will learn necessary skills needed for
the workplace where internal or external
communication is conducted in English.
What will you (hopefully) gain from
this course?
1. You will be introduced to vocabulary needed for
spoken and written English in the workplace. For
example, you will know how to reply email or
answering telephone in appropriate ways in the
workplace.
2. You will be introduced and practice oral skills related
to workplace such as interviews, giving presentations,
etc.
3. You will be encouraged to improve your grammar,
vocabulary, and pronunciation related to workplace.
What should you expect from the
course?

◦ We have a facebook group called English in the workplace Unisma.

◦ I will post every presentation after the class.
◦ I will post the reading list. You need to download the materials I post.
◦ I will post tasks and title for group discussion. Prepare yourself by
reading the materials. More reading materials equals better
comprehension of course.
◦ You will benefit from this course if you work independently and
diligently.
◦ Don’t forget to have fun.
How you get
scored?
◦ 10% for your presence in the class. It doesn’t
mean you just sit in the class. You also have
to be active in discussion and presentation.
No silent member. (maximum two
absences)
◦ 20% for your task, presentation, and group
discussion.
◦ 30% for UTS.
◦ 40% for UAS.
Be critical and active
◦Being critical doesn’t always mean you
disapprove of something. Being critical also
means you demonstrate understanding and
analyse everything given to you.
◦Being active means you really present in the
class. You have to engage with the class.
Introducing yourself
◦ Be confident.
◦ Look good.
◦ Clear voice.
◦ Give important and short explanation about you.

Saying Goodbye:
