What amounts to Sexual Harassment
As per the POSH Act “sexual harassment” is
defined as:-
• Physical contact and advances
• A demand or request for sexual favors
• Making sexually colored remarks
• Showing pornography
• Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-
verbal conduct of sexual nature
COMPLAINT COMMITTEE
There are two types of committee that are set under the POSH
Act.
A. INTERNAL COMMITTEE: The Act requires the employer to set
up this committee at each office or branch, of an organization
employing 10 or more employees.
It should consists of :
1. A woman PRESIDING OFFICER
2. At least 2 members amongst the employees.
3. External member from an NGO
4. Term of members should not exceed 3 years
5. At least half of the IC members shall be women
B. Local Complaints Committee (LCC):- The committee should be
there in every district so as to investigate & redress complaints from:-
• From women working in an organization having less than 10 workers;
• When the complaint is against the employer himself;
• From domestic workers.
