 SOBA NOODLE
 Soba – long, thin buckwheat noodles – has long been a staple
of Japanese cuisine.
 The noodles are served in either a hot, soy sauce-flavoured broth
or at room temperature on a bamboo mat with broth on the
side for dipping.
 TEMPURA
 Classical Portuguese dish brought to and popularized by Japan,
consisting of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep
fried.
 There are various types of seafood used in tempura such as prawn,
squid, shrimp, fish and crab.
 There are also various types of vegetables used in tempura such as
onion, carrot, potato and sweet potato.
 SUSHI
 Most famous Japanese dish outside of Japan, and one of the most
popular dishes among the Japanese themselves.
 Previously, "sushi" refers to pickled fish preserved in vinegar.
Nowadays sushi can be defined as a dish containing rice which has
been prepared with sushi vinegar.
 There are various types of sushi. Some of the popular ones are
nigari, gunkan and norimaki.
TEA
 The most common beverage in Japan and an important part of
Japanese food culture.
 Green tea is the most common type of tea.
 Green tea is also the central element of the tea ceremony.
 Among the most well-known places for tea cultivation are
Shizuoka, Kagoshima and Uji.
 Some popular teas consumed by the Japanese are ryokucha (green
tea), matcha (powdered green tea) and kocha (black tea).
 WAGASHI
 Wagashi are traditional Japanese sweets that are typically
enjoyed in combination with a cup of green tea.
 Some of the common wagashi types that tourists like are
daifuku (mochi), dorayaki and taiyaki.
