Artificial intelligence (AI) is
the intelligence exhibited by
machines or software. It is an
academic field of study which
studies the goal of creating
intelligence. it as "the science
and engineering of making
intelligent machines”.
 Artificial intelligence (AI) is
the intelligence exhibited by machines or software.
It is an academic field of study which studies the
goal of creating intelligence. Major AI researchers
and textbooks define this field as "the study and
design of intelligent agents", where an intelligent
agent is a system that perceives its environment
and takes actions that maximize its chances of
success. John McCarthy, defines it as "the science
and engineering of making intelligent machines".
AI research is highly technical and specialized. AI research is divided by several
technical issues. Some subfields focus on the solution of specific problems. Others
focus on one of several possible approaches or on the use of a particular tool or towards
the accomplishment of particular applications.

The field was founded on the claim that a central property of humans, intelligence
the sapience of Homo sapiens. Artificial intelligence has been the subject of tremendous
optimism but has also suffered stunning setbacks. Today it has become an essential part
, perception and the ability to move and an essential part of the technology industry,
providing the heavy lifting for many of the most challenging problems in computer
science.

Artificial neural networks

Artificial neural networks (ANNs) employ a

caricature of the way the human brain processes
information. An ANN has many processing units
(neurons or nodes) working in unison. They are
highly interconnected by links (synapses) with
weights . The network has an input layer, an
output layer and any number of hidden layers. A
neuron is linked to all neurons in the next layer

including medical diagnosis, stock trading, robot
control, law,remote sensing, scientific discovery and toys
Computer science
AI researchers have created many tools to solve the most
difficult problems in computer science. Many of their
inventions have been adopted by mainstream computer
science and are no longer considered a part of AI
Finance
Banks use artificial intelligence systems to organize
operations, invest in stocks, and manage properties. In
August 2001, robots beat humans in a simulated financial
trading competition.
 Hospitals and medicine
A medical clinic can use artificial intelligence systems to
organize bed schedules , make a staff rotation,andprovide
medical information and other important tasks.
Artificial neural networks are used as clinical decision
support systems for medical diagnosis , such as in Concept
Processing technology in EMR software.
Other tasks in medicine that can potentially be performed by
artificial intelligence include:
• Computer-aided interpretation of medical images. Such
systems help scan digital images, e.g. from computed
tomography, for typical appearances and to highlight
conspicuous sections, such as possible diseases. A typical
application is the detection of a tumor
 Heavy industry
Robots have become common in many industries. They are
often given jobs that are considered dangerous to humans.
Robots have proven effective in jobs that are very repetitive
which may lead to mistakes or accidents due to a lapse in
concentration and other jobs which hu - mans may find
degrading.
Online telecommunication

Transportation
Etc.
 Advantages of Artificial Intelligence

Jobs - depending on the level and type of intelligence these

machines receive in the future, it will obviously have an effect
on the type of work they can do, and how well they can do it
(they can become more efficient). As the level of AI increases so
will their competency to deal with difficult, complex even
dangerous tasks that are currently done by humans, a form of
applied artificial intelligence.
They don’t stop – as they are machines there is no need for
sleep.
No risk of harm – when we are exploring new undiscovered
land or even planets, when a machine gets broken or dies,
there is no harm done as they don’t feel, they don’t have
emotions.
Act as aids – they can act as 24/7 aids to children with
disabilities or the elderly, they could even act as a source for
learning and teaching.
Their function is almost limitless – as the machines will be
able to do everything (but just better) essentially their use,
pretty much doesn’t have any boundaries.
The Disadvantages for Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Over reliance on AI - as you may have seen in many films such as The
Matrix, iRobot or even kids films such as WALL.E, if we rely on
machines to do almost everything for us we become very dependent, so
much so they have the potential to ruin our lives if something were to go
wrong.
Human Feel – as they are are machines they obviously can’t provide you
with that ‘human touch and quality’, the feeling of a togetherness and
emotional understanding

Inferior - as machines will be able to perform almost every task better

than us in practically all respects, they will take up many of our jobs,
which will then result in masses of people who are then jobless and as a
result feel essentially useless.

Misuse - there is no doubt that this level of technology in the wrong

hands can cause mass destruction, where robot armies could be
formed,
 Conclusion
Artificial Intelligence and the technology are one side of the life that
always interest and surprise us with the new ideas, topics,
innovations, products …etc. AI is still not implemented as the films
representing it(i.e. intelligent robots), however there are many
important tries to reach the level and to compete in market, like
sometimes the robots that they show in TV. Nevertheless, the hidden
projects and the development in industrial companies.

At the end, we’ve been in this research through the AI definitions,

brief history, applications of AI in public, applications of AI in military,
ethics of AI, and the three rules of robotics. This is not the end of AI,
there is more to come from it, who knows what the AI can do for us in
the future, maybe it will be a whole society of robots
