and poisonous chemicals due to people’s unethical actions. Mudfish is one of the species that is greatly affected by the contaminants. Heavy metals cannot be simply terminated to the point that they will be mixed up with water along with the aquatic organisms specifically Mudfish (Clarias anguillaris) to be discussed in this study. Heavy metals found in the study conducted by J. Abah’, et al. (2013) were As, Mn, Cu, Pb and Fe. Lead, copper, nickel and zinc are mostly found in sediments. Water body pollution by heavy metal in recent times has become a problem of increasing public concern due to their gradual increase in excess of natural background resulting to deterioration in water quality for consumption as well as threatens aquatic life including mudfish and other fishes (O. Ebere’,et al., 2010). Heavy metals may enter fish bodies in three possible ways (via digestive tract, body surface and gills) (Ushie O.A, 2010). The study was made to establish the following objectives: To identify the heavy metals in Neochanna burrowsius. To figure out the things that the environment of the organism, Neochanna burrowsius, give to its body. Mudfish. It is used as a subject to collect the analysis of the heavy metal. Fishing Rod. It is use to get the specimens. Water: sediment extraction. It is used for analyzing the water in the location if it affected the specimen. Laboratory analysis. It is use to determine the distribution of heavy metal in specimen. Study Area. Silay pond, Surigao City Surigao Del Norte this is where the specimen found/get from its environment. Samples Collection and Preservation Samples of mudfish (Neochanna burrowsius), water and sediment were collected from fishing locations Silay pond. It lives and feeds from the bottom sediment of the pond. The sediments were collected by scooping with plastic hand trowel (0.25cm deep) and immediately put in sterilized polythene bags, closed and labeled. They were taken to laboratory and dried at 40°C in an oven, prior to analysis (Maitera et al., 2011). Fish samples The fishes were descaled and eviscerated and then transferred into electric oven at 40oC. They were dried in the oven at this temperature for 24hours and then pulverized in a clean dry porcelain mortar (Ahmed et al., 2010). The pulverized samples were dried further for 1hour at a reduced temperature of 20oC and put into clean dried bottles (Farkas et al., 2000; Adeniyi et al., 2005). Analyses of the variations of concentrations of the heavy metals were carried out using t-test and results were considered statistically significant at p < 0.05. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for detection of differences in metal concentrations between tissues significant difference test was employed. Furthermore, the obtained data were statistically analyzed by t-test for assessment of variation in metal concentrations among small and large size individuals within each species and also between two different species. Pearson's correlation coefficients were used when calculating correlations between fish of concentration of metals. Moreover, bioaccumulation factor between fish and water was calculated, using the mean metal concentrations in fish and the corresponding metal concentrations for water.
