● Matha Foods is a professionally managed ready-to-eat frozen foods


manufacturing and exporting company started in the year 2000.
● The company has its office in Chammanad in Alleppey district of Kerala State
in India.
● The company’s main exports are to USA, UK, Germany, Paris, Italy etc
● One of the pioneers in frozen food exports in the region.

● The annual turnover of the company was Rs 13 crore per annum in the
financial year 2017-2018.
● The company sells around 75% of its products to four of its clients.
● The company does not sell any products under their brand name.
● The two of the major products that the company make are Porotta and grated
coconut. And the major revenue comes from these two products.

Objectives

1 To understand the working of frozen food industry, which involves processing,


storing and refrigeration of food products.
2. To Identify the major factors that attracts buyers abroad to purchase frozen
foods from India.
3. To Understand the flow of channel distribution and export process of frozen
foods at international market.
4. To learn how currency fluctuation plays a vital role in profit of Indian companies.

Working of frozen food industry

● It involves processing, storing and transporting food under refrigeration.


● The Food produced is moved to a blaster (a storage room which freeze the
product to -40 degree in 6 to 7 hours)
● Products in blaster are then packed into cardboard boxes and moved to cold
storage which maintains a temperature of -18 degree.
● The products are transported in containers that have refrigeration.
● In shipping vessels the containers carrying the products are plugged to the
electricity throughout the journey.

Major factors that attracts buyers abroad to purchase


frozen foods from India.

Channel distribution and export process of frozen


foods at international market.
● The products that we produced and procured from third paryty vendors are
kept in blaster and then moved to cold storage.
● From the cold storage the products are shipped to destination country with
help of 40 feet or 20 feet containers.
● From the port it is received by the company on whose brand name the
product is made and then moved to their warehouse.
● From the main warehouse the products are moved to various distributers
warehouses across the country.
● From the distributers these products are moved to retail stores.

Currency fluctuation plays a vital role in profit of Indian


companies.
● The fluctuation in value of Indian currency is high.
● The decision of choosing the day for conversion of currency plays a vital role
in the profit of the business
