History of Sgnl
• Sgnl was established from a small creative idea formed by CEO of Innomdle (
means Innovation Medley ) Lab Choi Hyun Chul
• Choi said, “It felt inconvenient I thought it would be embarrassing because everyone
nearby could hear my conversation in real time.”
• Choi soon came up with an idea to make a device that could transmit sound using a
fingertip, and began to realize his idea to actual technology.
• He immediately applied for Samsung Electronics’ in-house venture business.
• His idea was selected as the best project in C-LAB’s ( Creative Laboratory) project
competition program and Sgnl was born as a result.

Schedule after idea of sgnl
• MAY 2014 SAMSUNG C-LAB PROJECT
• Sep 2015 spin off from Samsung and incorpora
• Oct 2015 Patent Registration
• Jan 2016 CES 2016 debut as “Tip Talk”
• Aug 2016 final Prototype
• Sep 2016 kickstarter Launch
• Oct 2016 small Batch(Beta) manufacturing & app release
• Dec 2016 Mass Production
• April 2017 starts Delivery

Working of Sgnl
• The Sgnl receives voice signals from the phone through Bluetooth
• Sgnl will generate vibrations through its Body Conduction Unit (BCU).
• Thus the transmission from the hand to the fingertip will take place.
• As transmission is made through vibrations, so there is no risk of harm to the
human body.
• When fingertip reaches to the ear, vibration echoes to create amplified sound.
• To enable fingertip communication, only slight contact with the skin is
required.
• It is waterproof and is IP56 certified (Dust protected and powerful water jets)

Bone conduction
• Ludwig van Beethoven, the famous 18th century composer who was
almost completely deaf, discovered Bone Conduction. Beethoven
found a way to hear the sound of the piano through his jawbone by
attaching a rod to his piano and clenching it in his teeth.
• He received perception of the sound when vibrations transfer from the
piano to his jaw. This has proven that sound could reach our auditory
system through another medium besides eardrums and the other
medium is our bones.

Body Conduction Unit (BCU)
• The key technology behind sgnl.
• The BCU allow users to hear voice and also blocking out background
voice
• BCU is a conduction unit capable of transmitting vibrations through
the human body.
• It contain two techniques
1. An Actuator
2. An Audio Algorithm

Sound Quality Test
• With Sgnl, the primary focus is the
transmission of the human voice,
therefore we continue to diligently
work towards lessening variation in
that frequency range.
• As Sgnl was developed to transmit
sound through a Body Conduction
Unit (BCU), the clearest sound and
the most accurate way to experience
fingertip communication is by hearing
it through the finger.

Sgnl App
• The sgnl has independent call
system.
• Through the sgnl app we can set
5 contacts. Thus way we will be
able to make an outgoing call.
• Each of the contacts will match
one of the 5 corresponding LED
lights.
• Cycling's these lights using the
volume buttons. Select light and
presses the function button for
outgoing calling system.
• 5 designated contacts without
touching your phone

13
Conclusion
• Sgnl’s key technology lies in its patented Body Conduction Unit (BCU),
which is capable of transmitting vibrations through the body, which then
can be converted to sound.
• Sgnl communicates with the user’s phone through Bluetooth.
• And when a voice signal is received, Sgnl will generate vibrations through
its BCU.
