WHAT ARE DRUG CLASSIFICATION?

Drug classification are way to organize

drugs into categories. There are many
reasons to do this.
Classifying drugs by chemical similarities
is useful because drugs that are
chemically similar often have similar
impacts and risk.
CLASSIFICATION OF DRUGS
An individual who is addicted to a drug is also
more likely to abuse and become addicted
to another drug if it is chemical similar
Also, the same treatment is often effective
for chemically similar drugs. Despite these
generalities, chemically similar drugs may
have very different legal and medical
impacts.
DRUG USE FOR MEDICINE
MARIJUANA OR CANNABINOIDS
The term medical marijuana refers to
using the whole, unprocessed marijuana
plant or basic extracts to treat
symptoms of illness and other
conditions.
However, scientific study of the chemicals in
marijuana, called cannabinoids, has led to two
(FDA) approved medications that contain
cannabinoid chemicals in pill form. Continued
research may lead to more medications.
Because the marijuana plant contains chemical
that may help treat a range of illnesses and
symptoms, many people argue that it should be
legal for medical purposes.
WHY THE MARIJUANA PLANT AN
FDA- APPROVED MEDICINE?
The FDA requires carefully conducted studies (clinical
trials) in hundreds to thousand of human subjects
to determine the benefits and risk of a possible
medication so far, researches haven’t conducted
enough lare – scale clinical trials that show that the
benefits of the marijuana plant (as opposesed to its
cannabinoid ingredients) outweigh its risk in patient
its meant to treat.
RECREATIONAL DRUG USE
RECREATIONAL DRUG USE
Recreational drug use is the use of a
psychoactive drug to induce an altered
state of consciousness for pleasure, by
modifying the perceptions, feelings, and
emotions of user. When a psychoactive
drug enters the users body, it induces
an intoxicating effect.
WHY DO PEOPLE TAKE DRUGS?

People take drugs because they want to

change something about theire lives.
SOME OF THE REASONS YOUNG
PEOPLE HAVE TAKING DRUGS:
To fit in
To escape or relax
To relieive boredom
To seem grown up
To rebel
To experiment
They think drugs are a solution. But
eventually, drugs become a problem.
Difficult as it may be to face one’s
problems. The consequences of drug use
are always worse than the problem one is
trying to solve them. The real answer is to
get the facts and not to take drugs in the
fisrt place.
EXAMPLES:
Individual who are obsessed with fitness and
increasing muscle size often find themselves
addicted to steroids. Steroids addiction occurs
frequently in athletes and body builders. The
steroids themselves give the user a high after
each hit. They may feel that the feelings come
from the satisfaction of achieving a perfect
body, when in fact the feelings come from the
steroids themselves.
