COURSE DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS
 A foundation course designed for 5th year Electrical Engineering
students to discuss the field of Information Technology that focuses
on software development, data communications computer
networking, databases, internet and web technologies.
 Prerequisite: IT23 / IT21
 3 units (2 hours/week lecture 3 hours/week laboratory)
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the semester, the students, with minimum assistance, are expected to:
1. Identify, describe and define functions of the components of the computer system;
2. Conduct basic hardware and software servicing;
3. Add, edit, delete data in databases;
4. Understand the concepts of computer networking;
5. Use of internet in communication; and
6. Use the internet in getting web information.
7. Explain the fundamentals of Information Technology and to identify the IT needs of a
company.
8. Apply concepts on data and database management systems on certain organization
processes.
9. Build simple LAN topologies by applying basic principles of cabling; performing basic
configurations of network devices.
