 Despite being considered a developing
country, the Philippines also contributes
to the global advancement of science
and technology.

 Philippines is known to be one of the

most vulnerable countries in terms of
natural disasters.
Many of the discoveries and
inventions made by the Filipinos
were built from indigenous
materials or created to adopt to
the harsh tropical environment.
 Invented by: Ismael Aviso

APhilippine vehicle that has undergone

many transformation.

 Ejeepneywas introduced in Metro Manila

and Bacolod City and later on used
around the country.
 Itis like a standard jeepney, with the only
difference that it runs on electricity
instead of diesel fuel.

 Itdoesn’t create noise nor do they emit

excessive carbon dioxide that jeepneys
are known for.
 RodolfoB. Biescas Sr. is a bicolano from
Bacacay, Albay and he believes that
"Necessity is not mother of all Inventions"
because there are inventions that are not
necessity like inventions that cause
destruction.
 Hestart to work on problems and its solutions
and invented the "Iron Mate” - solution to
electrifying problem on every household, the
higher consumption of electricity using flat
iron.

 According to research, 1/3 of household

electric consumptions is contributed by Flat
iron.
 Biescas began to work on Iron Mate on the idea
of Iron Maid in 1988 and filed the patent on
1990 and had been granted on 1991 saving up
to 53% energy consumption.

 It is a portable device made of fiber plastic

crystals, with stainless steel plate and heat
indicator at the rear side
A switching device that automatically
shuts off when flat iron is rested or not in
use. It can save up to 53% of Energy
consumption and cost of electricity.

 Portable and easy to use.

 Numerous Awards:

1. National Inventors Week and Golden

international Expo ' 93 Gold Medalist.

2. Putra World Trade Center - Bronze Medal

3. National Inventors Week Tuklas Award – 2000

4. I-TEX International Invention- 2000

 Duringthe rainy season, flooding is a common
occurrence in many areas in the country.

 Tricycles find it very difficult to traverse the

streets.

 Toremedy the issue, H20 Technologies headed

by Dominic N. Chung and Lamberto Armada,
was able to invent the Salamander.
 H20 Technologies headed by Chung and
Armada, together with Chief Designer
Victor “Atoy” Llave, invented the
Salamander, an amphibious tricycle that
cross not only flooded streets but also
rivers and lakes.
 Itmay also be utilized to travel from
island to island.

 Since the Philippines is an archipelago,

the Salamander is a useful invention that
has a lot of potential.
 3-in-1
truck was named the Anos Fire
Ambulance and Rescue Vehicle (AFARV).

 Thelate Alfredo M. Anos Sr. is the

“Godfather of Filipino Inventors” and has
created a rescue vehicle, fire truck, and
ambulance in one.
 Its triple capability allows firefighters and
emergency workers to simultaneously put out
fire, rescue people and animals, and provide
first aid treatment to the injured.

 Theambulance and rescue fire truck uses

compressed air foam system.
 Dengue, a mosquito-borne viral illness, is
endemic in tropical and subtropical
areas, including the Philippines.

 Thisvirus is usually transmitted by Aedes

aegypti mosquito, rampant during the
rainy season.
 In2010, the Department of Science and
Technology – Industrial Technology
Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) was able to
introduce the Mosquito Ovicidal/Larvicidal
Trap System, also known as OL Trap.

 OL trap is organic and non-toxic.

 Aims
to control the population of the
dengue-carrying Aedes mosquitoes.

 Thistrap system is made of natural

ingredients that are lethal to mosquitos
but safe for human and the environment.
 Dr. Fe del Mundo was the first Asian to
have entered the prestigious Harvard
University's School of Medicine.

 Fe del Mundo, is credited for her studies

that lead to the invention of incubator.
 Theincubator was made by two native
laundry baskets that was placed one
laundry basket to other.

 Hotwater bottles were arranged around

and in between the two baskets to
provide warmth.
 Italso included a makeshift hood over
the overlapping baskets so that oxygen
will be able to circulate with in.

 Because of the high morality rate of new

babies, this incubator was invented.
 Maintenance of thermo neutral ambient
temperature

 Provision of desired humidity and oxygenation

 Observation of very sick neonates

 Isolation
of newborn babies from infection,
unfavorable external environment
 Philippines, as a developing nation, is in need
of electrification.

 In
many rural areas in the country, activities
would cease when it gets dark. Filipinos have
resorted to using candles and kerosene lamps
but they carry certain risks as they are fire
hazards.
 Aisa Mijeno invented a lighting system that
utilizes a material abundant in the Philippines-
saltwater.

 Salt Lamp is an environmental-friendly light

source that runs on saltwater making it suitable
to those who live in coastal areas.

 Itis safer as it poses no risk of fire and emits no

toxic gases.
 Neutralizes electromagnetic radiation
 Purifies the air and improves breathing
 Reduces asthma and allergy symptoms
 Increases energy levels
 Helps one sleep better
 Reduce stress, increases performance
and improves mood
