Math Expectations
Math Rotations (Differentiated based on Unit Pre-Assessment):
• Mini Lesson
• Independent
• Center
Mini Lesson:
• Bring notebook, pencil and only needed materials to the meeting area
• Be an active listener, asking questions once the teacher has modeled
• During guided practice, solve then discuss mathematical reasoning with a partner and record
answers in notebook
Math Expectations
Independent:
• Stick/glue in differentiated problems
• Students solve the problems independently for first 10 minutes
• Mathematical reasoning must be discussed during last 5 minutes with partner
Center:
• Work in pairs or as a group (depending on game)
• Voice volume needs to be that only group hears them
• Follow directions and stay on task
• Show mathematical thinking in notebook
• If unclear about a problem, discuss it with group first before approaching the teacher
Also Math Journal Tasks, Number Talks and Screeners are a part of our
math block

“While working through Independent Digital Lessons, your child will
learn and practice new concepts at his/her own pace. Independent
Digital Lessons include fun warm-ups to build math foundations,
interactive videos to learn new concepts, paper and pencil work to
transfer learning, and lots of supportive, precise, and personalized
feedback.” - Zearn.org
