By the end of this unit we will:

Watch the short film “The Birds” This can be found in…
Pupil Share / Music / S1 / Mixcraft Film Project
As a pair: Watch the film again, but this time with the audio turned off. Identify the
main points of the film you would like to add sound / music to and what sort of
sounds you will include.
(To do this, you must first save this Power Point to your own file / server space)
Use the next slide to complete a grid of the sounds and ideas you will use. When
complete, show this to your teacher.
For example…

You will use Mixcraft to create audio for this film.

To help you get started you should carefully follow the


instructions on the next slides – This will ensure that your
project will run smoothly!
1. Open Mixcraft and Start a new Project -

Can’t see this? Go to File -> New Project

Reduce Instrument Tracks to 0 -> Click “OK”


 Add the video file…

Video -> Add Video File

Find Video in…

Pupil Share / Music / S1 / Mixcraft Film Project


 Remove the sound: You cannot just delete the audio track! You
must unlink it first!!

Click to unlink
 Right Click on the Audio Track Menu Tab (On the left) and select
Delete Track.
 As well as music, Mixcraft has many sound effects which could be used.
These are found in the library tab – Just change the “Library” to “Sound
Effects”.

Stonewashed Free Sound Effects - (Right Click and “Open Hyperlink”)
(This links to other websites where you can find and download effects as mp3 files)
Your Film Soundtrack should…

 Cover at least the first 1 minute of the film


 Use Music / Background Music for part or all of the selection
 Make use of a variety of appropriate sound effects
 You should have a copy of your original Planning Sheet.
