THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION

TECHNOLOGY

Gil Nicholas Cagande

HISTORY
• Almost everything we now use has been innovated to better
standards. For example, the type of mobile phones we had in
1995 have been slowly depreciated with the passage of time;
and with the increasing demands of users, mobile phone
makers have opted to pursue advancements in their technology.
Today’s users of mobile phones demand simplicity and more
functionality. In response to this, manufacturers developed the
newer generation smart phones—known generally for their ease
of use, portability, increased range of applications, and
connectivity.
COMMUNICATION
• Communication has always been an important
aspect of business, and even in life. Through the
years, the quality of communication continues to
advance with wireless technology. Through the
Internet, distance has no longer become a
hindrance when one contacts another person,
even at the opposite side of the world.
AGRICULTURE
• In Agriculture, technological advancements have
resulted in increased production and abundant food
supplies, even when faced with unfavorable weather
conditions. New methods for irrigation which
incorporate mechanical components, as well as
automated sprinklers and temperature controllers often
yield to higher quality products. For distribution,
farmers are able to connect to potential distributors
through apps on Smartphones, or through the Internet.
HEALTH
• Health care has been made better, and many lives are
being saved through improvements in the field of
Medicine. Modern doctors and medical students have
crossed over to the use of medical technological tools
to carry out extensive research on human health
problems and challenges. This extensive research has
resulted into the development of new drugs, and
treatments which have helped in curing most
challenging human diseases. Recent developments
have also looked into the possibility of prolonging the
human lifespan.
EDUCATION
• The method to teaching has greatly been revolutionized
in the Education sector. Now, one can truly say that
information has become power. Technology has
simplified the way teachers interact and reach their
students, and it has helped learners acquire knowledge
and anywhere—and enable them access to academic
information at any time. Books are slowly being
replaced with intangible media, and lessons are now
viewed in the comfort of one’s own smartphone.
