Types of Knives

Chef Knives
Chef knife
● Workhorses
● Length: 6-14 inches
● German: Generally more
curved throughout the
knife
● French: Straighter and
curved at the tip
● Japanese: Thinner and
straighter blade
Types of Knives

Paring Knife
● For finer cutting and
details
● ~3 inches
● Slightly curved
Serrated Knife
● For difficult cutting
Knife Safety

● Keep your knife at your sides with the tip pointed to the ground
while walking.
● Work with dry hands
● Use your knife only on stable surfaces
● DO NOT TRY TO CATCH YOUR KNIFE
● Keep knives away from the edge of the table
● Keep blades facing towards the center of the table when not using
● Place keep knives in obvious places
● Do not point your knife at anyone
