INTER PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION

General Objective:
After following this lecture, the student should be able to
understand the principle and topic to be covered of Inter
professional education.
Specific Objective:
At the end of this lecture student should be able:
• Describe definition of inter professional education
• Describe the model of inter professional education
• Apply teamwork and working together with the other
health profession
Introduction
• Enhancing patient safety
• Deliberatively working together with the common
goal of building a safer and better patient-centered
and community/population oriented health care
system
• No one can whistle a symphony, it takes an orchestra
to play it
• We all have a moral obligation to work together to
improve care for patients.”(Pronovost & Vohr, 2010)
Interprofessional collaborative practice:

• When multiple health workers from


different professional backgrounds work
together with patients, families, carers,and
communities to deliver the highest quality
of care” (WHO, 2010)
Pengertian IPE (WHO 2010)

• Pendidikan antar profesi terjadi ketika


pelajar/mahasiswa dari 2 atau lebih profesi
belajar bersama tentang, dari dan dengan
satu sama lain untuk mencapai kolaborasi
yang efektif dan memperbaiki outcome
kesehatan.

about each other

uses the others’ expertise and capabilities in a

• Belajar dan bekerja bersama utk mengkomunikasikan dan


mengelola informasi yg sulit secara emosional dengan pasen
dan keluarga , seperti: informasi tentang kematian, kesalahan
pengungkapan perihal medis yg membutuhkan keterbukaan,
pemahaman dan kemampuan utk menyampaikan pesan pesan
sensitif dgn cara-cara yang baik.

to be a good team player.
• Strong leaders in team-based care want to satisfy
patient and community needs, and they value all
team members’ potential contributions in meeting
those needs.

• 1960: teamwork in mental health & learning
disabilities service
• 1970: protection child and palliative care
• 1980: awareness to HIV/AIDS
• 1990-99: maternity care, rehabilitation, chronic
illness, ethics, management
• 21st century: continued to chronic illness, responding
to social & demographic change, improving the
quality &efficiency of services & care for vulnerable
groups with complex needs (children, older people,
mental health challenge,etc)

assessed by linking them with professional
