Types of Sentences
Defination:-
1. A sentence is a group of words that
makes a complete sense .
2. A group of words which has a
complete sequence is called
sentence.
For e.g :- 1. She is working in the lab.
2. Where is she working?
3. Is she working in the lab?
4. Work in the lab.
All the above examples are called sentence.
Of course their structure is change from previous one
There are Four types of sentences
1. Assertive Sentence
2. Interrogative Sentence
3. Imperative Sentence
4. Exclamatory Sentence
A sentence that makes an assertion or
declaration is called an Assertive or Delcaltive
sentence.
For e.g :-
1. The earth is a small planet in the solar system
2 Abraham Lincoln would never harm anyone.
3. The cow gives us milk.
Structure
S + V + O / rps
A sentence that asks a question is
called an Interrogative Sentence.
For e.g :-
1. Who are you ?
2 What is your name ?
3. Do you want anything ?
4 Are you happy ?
For e.g :-
1. Who are you ?
2 What is your name ?
3. How are you ?
4 Why are you late ?
A question which starts by using
helping verbs such as am, is, are ,was
,were ,have , has ,had, will, shall, can
, could etc is called verbal question /
Yes or No Question.
For e.g :-
1. Am I correct ?
2 Have you written all this ?
3. Was she sick ?
Structure
V +O
Note:- In the imperative sentences , the subject
‘You’ is omitted.
A sentence that expresses sudden
feelings or emotions is called
Exclamatory Sentence.
For e.g. :-
1. Alas! She is gone!
2 My ticket! One crore!
3. What a beautiful handwriting it is !
4 How old he was!
