 Alfredo Salazar - son of Don Julian, a more than 30 year’s old man
and a bachelor. He is engaged to Esperanza but he is in love with
Julia Salas.

 Esperanza - wife of Alfredo Salazar. She is a homely woman,

literal minded and intensely acquisitive. She is one of those
fortunate women who have the gift of uniformly beauty.

 Julia Salas - sister-in-law of Judge Del Valle. She is the other girl
of Alfredo Salazar thatremains single in her entire life.
 Don Julian - an old man, a father of Alfredo Salazar and Carmen.
 Carmen - sister of Alfredo Salas.
 Judge Del Valle - brother-in-law of Julia Salas.
 Donna Adella -- sister of Julia Salas. She is small and plump, a pretty
woman with acomplexion of a baby with an expression of a likeable
cow.
 Calixta - note-carrier of Alfredo Salazar and Esperanza
 Brigida Samuy - She is the illusive woman whose Alfredo is looking
for.
WHEN WHERE
 RISING ACTION
The story begins with Don Julian and Carmen were talking
about Ezperanza and Alfredo's prolong engagement, while
Alfredo was reminiscing on how things started between
him and Esperanza and in how Julia entered his life.
 EXPOSITION
One evening, his father persuaded Alfredo to join him in
neighboring, there he met a young woman named Julia
Salas, at first he thought she was the Judge sister but it
turns out that she was just the sister-in-all. Coming to the
Judge's house became often after that and as time goes by
he realized the he was falling in love with Julia despite his
engagement with Esperanza.
 CLIMAX
After the procession of the Lady of Sorrow, Alfredo saw
Julia and he hurriedly follow her, but to his surprise Julia
congratulate him for his nearing marriage. And that very
same night Esperanza finally confronted him, telling him
that she was aware of what was happening. At the point
Alfredo need to make a decision between the thing he
wand to do and the thing he has to do.
 FALLING ACTION
The night that Julia congratulate Alfredo for his marriage
was also the night that she finally bid farewell to him, and
because of the pressure on what other may say Alfraeso
decided to push to through the wedding with his fiance,
Esperanza
 RESOLUTION
Alfredo and Esperanza was now married for eight years.
Alfredo was searching for a lady named Brigida Samuy – a
lady important for his defense in the court in Sta. Cruz,
Julia’s Hometown. He went to Julia’s house and he found
out that Julia is still unmarried . And then he realized that
his love for Julia was like a DEAD STAR- it was non
existent.
