MODEL OF TEACHING

METHOD OF TEACHING
TEACHING STRATEGY
DISCUSSION METHOD
 What is characteristic of discussion teaching method?
Benefit of discussion method:

 Provides opportunity for discussion between teacher and

students, and students to students.
 Exchange of ideas in class.
 Gives opportunity for all to sit and listen, as well as talk and
think, thus emphasizing the process of "coming to know"
as valuable as "knowing the right answer".
 Students are allowed to develop critical thinking ability,
learn to evaluate ideas, concepts and principles, and
procedures.
 Encourages cooperative team work between teacher and
students and amongst students (cooperative learning).
 Developing societal relationships.
 Bennett (1995): “discussion creates cooperative spirit that improve
both academic achievement and students' interpersonal
relationship in most cases all students (high, average and low
achievers)”.

 Johnson, Johnson and Holube (1988): “cooperative spirit in

learning help students work together to complete a task
successfully and also important in promoting students'
independence”.
QUESTION METHOD
 When can you can that you use question method in
your teaching?

 What are benefits of using question model?

 Type of questions: open question, closed question,
hypothetical question, productive question, reflective
question, probing question.
EXPERIMENT METHOD
 Manipulate equipment
 Hands-on and minds-on activity
 Identify variables
 Allow student to test new technique
 Allow student to develop attitudes
(safety work, clean in working,
careful in working)
LECTURE METHOD

 Most common method used in teaching

 Do you think lecture method is the most easy method
used for teaching?
 What is advantage and disadvantage of using lecture
method in your teaching?
DEMONSTRATION METHOD
 What is demonstration method?
 When can we use demonstration method?
 Why do we use demonstration method?
ROLE PLAY METHOD
 Develops functioning knowledge: “a combination of
propositional knowledge (knowing about the academic
knowledge base), procedural knowledge (knowing
how – having the skills) and conditional knowledge
(knowing the circumstances in which to use the
skills)”.
 Creates a stimulating environment that simulates
reality enabling students to intensify their
understanding of the situation.
 Gain a deeper insight into key concepts by enacting
issues discussed in the classroom.
 Develop practical skills for professional practice.
Assignment
 Give more time for students to explore the topics
 Give more time for exercise
