QUESTION 2:
Marketing requires one to be more of an intuitive type rather than a sensing type as to
excel one needs to think out of the box. Shekhar was a sensing type personality who
believed in routine and order and focussed on details
Being a Feeling type gives an edge in the world of marketing as that enhances one’s
people skills, helps in increasing network and helps in understanding personal values
and emotions better. Shekhar was a Thinking type person.
Shekhar, being an ISTJ didn’t possess any of the traits required to be a good marketeer.
Shekhar’s personality type was much more suited for the R&D department than
marketing.
QUESTION 3:
How and why did the rift in the team spring up? Analyze it
critically based on the concepts in the chapter.
According to Myers Briggs personality type indicator, ISTJ type of people are dutiful and
logical. They want control and prefer order and structure.
Shekhar was concerned about his status as the project leader and felt responsible for his
team as well as the deliverables.
According to The Big Five Personality Model, a highly conscientious person is
responsible, organized, persistent, highly efficient, sets high standard and develops
higher levels of job knowledge.
The main reason which led to rift in the team was due to the Shekhar’s way of
functioning which was not going down well among the team mates .
He was very strict with deadlines, expected best from his teammates, always kept them
on their toes and was aggressive with his dealings with them which eventually led to his
disliking by his teammates .
On the other hand, John was liked by others as he was very easy going, caring and
approachable to everyone and knew how to maintain relationships with other members.
All these factors led to development of disliking in the other teammates towards Shekhar.
QUESTION 4:
While both John and Shekhar had similar family background and
financial status.
The wide differences in the nature can be attributed to John being the
only child in family and therefore loved to explore and meet new people
whereas Shekhar not only lived with grandparents but also had four
other siblings which explains his shy and quiet nature.
