Code of Ethics
• Must be ethical if they are to be successful
• Creates structure in the company.
• It defines the extent which the employees
can act to please the customer and
maximize profit.
Steps in Development
of Code of Ethics
• Survey both Employees and Customers
• Develop the code with a guarantee.
• Communicate the Code of Ethics.
• Provide a Follow-up and Feed back.
Survey Both Employees and
Customers
• One must servey the Employees.
• In a large company. A random sample of employees
should be surveyed. The sample should include the
representatives from all levels of every hierarchy.
• For small organizations, all employees can be
interviewed.
• Employees should be asked on which areas of the
organization they believe needs improvement and
how the standard operating procedures could be
revised to help them to perform their jobs better.
• Customers also are needed to be surveyed through
focus groups. Random phone calls. Feedback or
comment notes.
Develop the Code With
Guarantee.
• Can be developed through research findings.
• This framework should address the concerns of both
employees and customers.
• Customers' concerns is about their satisfaction from
the product.
• The Employees" concerns is about how will they
perform their job better.
Proposed Code of Ehtics
• We shall obey all the laws of the community when
conducting business.
• We shall guarantee complete satisfaction with both our
products and services.
• We shall not refuse anyone our goods or services to race,
creed, color, sex, or other personal traits.
• We shall empower all our employees to serve our
customers as they deem appropriate within the
parameters of their job description.
• We shall offer all our employees equal working conditions
and opportunities to advance within the organization.
• We shall continually strive to improve our products and
services through employee and customer feedback.
Communicate the Code of Ehtics

• The success of a code of ethics greatly depends on

how well it is communicated and implemented.
• The effectiveness of a code is less dependent on its
content
• The code should be easy to read.
• The employees should be aware of the codes
• This also needed to be communicated to the
custimers.
Provide follow up and
feedback
• Innovative programs like this one do not work
immediately.
• It is important for managers to understand that
their continuous and consistent support of the
empowerment program is essential for it to
succeed.
• The empowerment program is destined to fail
without their support.
