Pengertian Compound
Sentence
 Compound sentence merupakan jenis
kalimat panjang yang berasal dari gabungan
dua kalimat atau lebih. Kalimat yang
digunakan adalah kalimat sederhana (simple
sentence) yang terdiri dari subjek dan
predikat. Seperti yang sudah kita bahas
sebelumnya, simple sentence adalah sebuah
kalimat sederhana yang bersifat independen
yang artinya, apabila kalimat ini tidak di
gabungkan pun tetap akan menjadi sebuah
kalimat yang utuh.
 Conjunction yang digunakan adalah: for,
and, nor, but, or, yet dan so.(FANBOYS)
 contoh
1. He wanted to buy a new computer, so he started to save
money
 Independent clause 1 : He wanted to buy a new
computer.
 Independent clause 2 : He started to save money.

2. Pam liked Wayne, and Leena also liked Wayne.

 Independent clause 1 : Pam liked Wayne
 Independent clause 2 : Leena also liked Wayne.

3. She didn’t want to play with Jill, and she didn’t want to play
with Tim.
 Independent clause 1 : She didn’t want to play with Jill
 Independent clause 2 : she didn’t want to play with Tim.
4. I don’t want to eat, and I don’t want to drink.
 Independent clause 1 : I don’t want to eat
 Independent clause 2 : I don’t want to
drink.

5. All of my partners were very lazy, so I

accomplished this homework alone.
 Independent clause 1 : All of my partners
