Classroom language is one of the tools that can be used to help the
children to be independant. According to Scott and Ytreberg (1990), here are
some phrases that young learners should learn as soon as possible.

Good morning/afternoon
Goodbye
Can I ........ , please?
Sorry, I don’t know/don’t understand/can’t
What’s this called in English?/What’s the English for .... ?
Whose turn is it/book is this/chair is this?
Whose turn is it to .... ?
It’s my/your/his/her turn
Pass the ..... , please.
Thank you

There are some properties of a list of rules

(Henson & Elleson,1999):
1. Establish the list during the first few class
meeting.
2. Keep the list short but clear.
3. Focus on learners behaviors needed to achieve
lesson goal.
4. State the consequences for breaking the rules
and rewards for following them.

In conclusion, young learners are unique and special.

As an English teacher of young learners, improving
language level and teaching skills is important but
developing classroom managing art is very important.
In fact, the teaching of young learners is immensely
rewarding and exhilarating, they communicate a great
sense of energy, curiosity and involvement.
