HYDROLOGY
Approach Followed for Hydrological Study
• The river is ungauged without any reliable discharge data prior to the study
• A approach of setting out an spot measurement through current meter at various months as
well as establishment of gauging station nearby to proposed powerhouse location (the site at
intake was unsuitable for gauging station)
• Discharge data of the nearby gauged river station such as Melamchi, Likhu, Balephi and Khimti
were considered (although Tamakoshi has greater set of data from DHM station it was
omitted from the consideration due to large catchment area compare to Kalinchowk Hydro)
• Precipitation data from 4 of DHM stations ( Singati, Gongar, Charikot and Barhabise) in vicinity
were utilized.
• Various empirical and catchment area methods were utilized to analyze various flow
condition.
• These flow data compared with measured flow to establish relationship/ interpretation

Adopted Monthly Flow
• Discharge obtained using MIP and Modified Hydest method gives optimist result
• While discharge obtained using Hydest Method gives conservative result.
• The projected result is much different than discharge obtained from measurement which relates
to average of catchment area correlation method of Balephi,Likhu, Khimti and Melamchi River.
• Another perspective of average CAR flow from three stations were compared with measured flow
at site,
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
Measured Flow 0.432 0.504 1.535 1.938
Average of CAR of four

• The average CAR flow of the four nearby station gave comparable value to the measured average
flow during various months, hence the average CAR flow was adopted as the average flow at the
intake site of the project

GEOLOGY
• The project area lies in the Chagu–Chilangka Augen Gneisses
Formation of the LesserHimalaya (Dhital, 2015). This formation
is equivalent to the Ulleri Formation.
• Throughout theproject area augen gneiss, banded gneiss and
schist are observed.
• The hill slopes on both of the intake bank are characterized by
colluvium depositand rock slope. At the left bank moderate
rock fall are reported with exposed gneiss rockslope. The
gneiss is medium grained, light grey to white with grains of
feldspar, tourmaline, quartz and minor micas. There are some
hanging block too which need to be removed.

POWER EVACUATION PLAN
• There are existing 33kV systems in the vicinity Kalinchowk Small
Hydroelectric Project (3.0 MW).

• The nearest grid substation near to Kalinchowk Small Hydroelectric Project

(3.0MW) is 33/132 kV Singati Substation which is underconstruction.

• A 33/132 kV, 30 MVA Singati Hub substations is expected to act as a Hub

for the evacuation of Hydro-Electric Power generated in this region. This
substation will be connected to existing 33/132kV Lamosanghu s/s with
double circuit 40km Bear conductor transmission line.
POWER EVACUATION PLAN

Based on lowest capitalized cost and loss, Scheme1 shows least capitalized cost. So,
12 km long single circuit 33 kV transmission line with DOG conductor is the best
alternatives among all the four schemes envisaged.
