DASU TRANSMISSION LINE

PROJECT
In The Name of Allah
The Most Beneficent The Most Merciful
Project Background
 WAPDA identified 26 potential Hydropower Project (HPP)
sites in Northern Areas. Dasu HPP is one of the identified sites
on run-of-river Indus with total capacity of 4320 MW.

 The project is to be developed in two stages with generation

capacity of 2160 MW at 1st stage. As per schedule, the 1st stage
of the project will be completed by August 2023. NTDC is
responsible to construct a 765kV Transmission Line from Dasu
HPP to Islamabad along with 765kV substations at Mansehra
and Islamabad West for evacuation of the power to be
generated at by Dasu Hydropower Project.

Project Background (Cont’d)
 M/s. KEPCO were selected as Consultant for the
Project through International Competitive Bidding
(ICB) Process. The Contract Agreement for the
Consultancy Services was signed on 13 Feb 2015 with
M/s. KEPCO at a total consultancy cost of Equivalent
PKR 702 Million. The Consultant commenced their
Consultancy Services on 09 Mar 2015 with 08 March
2016 as the completion date for Assignment-A i.e.
until award of contract to the successful bidder.

Project Background (Cont’d)
 Based upon the enhanced generating capacities of Dasu and
other downstream Hydro Power Projects, Techno-Economic
Studies, as well as limitation on the available corridors in the
difficult mountainous terrain, M/s. KEPCO recommended 765
kV voltage level for the project which was also supported by
Independent Panel of Experts (IPoEs) and the World Bank.

 Consequently amendment to the Consultancy Contract was

made on 15 February 2016 with the increased consultancy cost
of Equivalent PKR 813 Million and the extended completion
date of 08 October 2016 for Assignment-A of the Consultancy
Services.
 The Services were expired on 31 Decemeber 2016 due to
unsatisfactory performance. Page 3 of 11
Selection of New Consultant
