- Chute Penetration
North
- Typical level detail
• Penetration to be created from L01 
L06
• Penetration to be bound by concrete
encased steel beams (North and West),
and concrete ribs (South and East)
• Ribs compromised by creation of
penetration to be supported with a
combination of a prop-and-beam
system, and the scaffold walls
themselves
– Scaffold standard = 5 kN EW = 1.870 m
• Prop-and-Beam system to consist of:
– 200UB to be installed every
second level (i.e. L01, L03, L05) NS = 2.310 m
– Beam to be installed NS across
structural beams
– 70 kN @ 3000 mm Alshor prop to
be installed from top of Beam to
the soffit of the slab above
• Prop-and-Beam system to be installed
tight to the eastern face of the eastern
scaffold bay
• For the levels without beams (i.e. L02,
L04), props to be based off timber
spreaders to distribute load and
maintain vertical continuity through
misaligned ribs.

- Ground details
North
• Scaffold installed on Ground floor to be
positioned around the perimeter of the
Chute bay to create a widened base.
• Propping of the compromised L01 ribs to
be provided by the eastern bay of
scaffold
– Single scaffold standard = 5 kN
– Scaffold standards to support L01
slab ribs, transferring load
through to LG reinforcement.
• Chute base to consist of a layer of tyres,
covered by steel plate. Ground
– Tyres to dampen dynamic loading
– Steel plate to distribute load over Existing masonry wall
chute base area
• A rubble pad (fines and small dimension
concrete) to be installed over the steel
plate to dampen dynamic (impact)
loading
– Impact force, and the associated
vibration transfer, is inversely
proportionate to stopping
distance. Therefore, as falling
rubble impacts and displaces the
pad, force and thus vibration are Structural Column
dissipated.
• Shunt barrier to be employed at the
eastern extent of the chute base,
allowing materials to be gathered by a
Bobcat. = Steel Plate = Scaffold = Rubble pad = 200UB = Shunt barrier = Ladder Beam

- Slab loading capacity
TS-SH-10-00-01[1] extract
North
• The bay in which the chute is to be
established is limited to 4.6 kPa Live
Load and 7.0 kN Point Load.
• Unaffected ribs surrounding the chute
penetration will maintain the LL and
Point Load capacity. Ribs that are to be
partially removed are to be supported
through the application of a beam-and-
prop system throughout the building,
and the load bearing capacity of the
scaffold used to define the chute itself.
• Material stockpiling within the chute
base and Ground floor storage area to
utilise the Live Load capacity of two (2)
levels simultaneously. i.e. 4.6 kPa x 2 =
9.2 kPa (?)
