What is a Facebook Page?
Pages can be thought of in the same way as a Personal Facebook Profile the
main difference is that Pages are meant for organizations, businesses,
celebrities, and bands to broadcast information in an official, public manner
to people who choose to connect with them.

Pages communicate by way of “updates” which show on the update tab or a

person’s wall if they’re a fan and have allowed the page to show updates

Similar to profiles, Pages can be enhanced with applications that help the
entity communicate and engage with their audiences, and capture new
audiences virally through
1. friend recommendations,
2.News Feed stories,
3. Facebook events, and beyond.
Updating your members?
Via Facebook page you will be able to do the following:
1. Update your status,
2. Ask questions and get responses (Survey form)
3. Post photos,
4. Share a link, or record/upload a Video.

These posts will appear in the News Feed, on people's home pages who
have already "Liked" your Page as well as your Page's wall for any people
who are visiting.
Additionally, you're able to send updates, which will appear in the 'other'
folder in their messages, to the people who have "Liked" your Page.
These updates can be sent to all people connected to your Page, or
targeted to certain types of people connected to your Page.
Administration Issues?
A FB page is managed through the Administrator who is
either the owner or an appointed.
There is no limit to the number of administrators
The Administrator’s duties is to:
- Post updates that will appear on the Page wall and on
members walls as feeds
- Manages the content that appears on Page Wall
 Post Photos, Videos and Administer discussions on the Page
- Monitor Statics of Page visits
- Filter content that posted on the wall – ‘Hidden Posts’
What are the Benefits?
Witnessing/Awareness - Facebook can be a great resource for witnessing and generating awareness to the
public. Most people, when they want information, use the internet and with the increasing popularity of
Facebook people now use Facebook if they want information on Organisations including Churches.

Information Dissemination - Using Facebook applications can be a great way to communicate to Church
members about promotions, and events (Afternoon programs, Music Days, Guest Days etc).

Social Interaction - Again it is another interaction point that can be utilised to encourage social
interaction between our members by way of discussions (prayer request, word of encouragements etc.).
This will improve engagement with our Church members

Client Retention - provides another platform to build strong ongoing relationships with our with our
members and also keep in touch with those who have backslidden, or have moved to other areas.
The Viral Effect – Facebook can work as a word of mouth. What is posted on a member’s wall will be
visible to their friends and can be a an effective witnessing tool.

Statistics – Facebook provides statistics of the number of people who visited the Page on a weekly/
monthly basis. This information can be useful to our witnessing efforts.
