Regulations: Ofcom
 Ofcom is the communication regulator in the united kingdom. They regulate
many things such as tv radio and on demand sectors, phones, mobiles and post
service , also the airwaves which many wireless devices operate.
 Ofcom aim to get the best from their communications and service in the uk and
protect people from scams.
 Ofcom is a company funded by fees from industry for regulating broadcasting
and communications network, they also get aids and grants from the
government. This is also funded through a TV license of (£145.50 per year)
 Ofcom uses the watershed to support viewers to make sure that content that is
being shown is appropriate and supports viewers interests . Ofcom try to make
sure that under 18s are protected from not appropriate content.
 If Ofcom were to accept your music or any video, you as the producer would
have to make sure that it is not graphic, that there is no abusive language. If
the content consists any of this Ofcom will just ban the music or the video if any
of this content is shown outside of the hours 9pm till 5:30am
Regulations: BBFC
 BBFC stands for British board of film classification
 The British Board of Film Classification is a non-governmental organisation,
founded by the film industry in 1912 and responsible for the national
classification and censorship of films exhibited at cinemas and video works.
 These are the people that will watch a film and decide what age range. If
they believe it is not suitable it ill be banned from being shown in the
cinema. Movies such as the Human centipede were originally banned in the
uk because of its revolting content but it was finally given a 18 certificate
 When I create my video need to make sure that I don’t have any content
that BBFC would consider revolting so that my video could be shown in the
cinema with an age certificate on it.
Advertising Standards:ASA
 The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)  role is to "control the content of
advertisements, sales promotions and direct marketing in the UK" by
examining "complaints made about ads, sales promotions or direct
marketing", and determining whether such advertising complies with its
advertising standards codes and practises.
 An example of an advert that has been reported to the ASA is the kfc advert.
This advert featured a chicken dancing to a rap soundtrack. It received
around 8oo complaints stating that it was disrespectful to chickens and that
the video was distressing to vegetarians and vegans This advert was
investigated and the result was that the advert was not banned as there
was no explicit references to animals within the advert.
 If a advert has explicit content it will then be banned by this company to
ensure that everyone is protected from seeing explicit content
Regulations:BECTU

• Bectu is the uks media and entertainment trade union. The sector they cover is
broadcasting, cinema, film, digital media, independent production, leisure and
telecoms.
• The aims that BECTU want to achieve are:
• Protect jobs
• Increase membership
• Win new recognition agreements
• Bectu is a democratic organisation and is led by representatives who are chosen by
the organisation's members. Members will then send representatives out to certain
branches, conferences.
• If something is wrong, then the trade union of bectu will investigate and resolves this
issue immediately 
Regulations:UKCCS

• The copyright registration with the uk copyright service is the service that can
protect your work from infringement and misuse. This company aim to produce this
service fast and effective to people who need this service. This makes sure that you
always have the best evidence of ownership to protect your work and your rights
within your business.

• This organisation work well with you tube to ensure that no content is copy wrote.
In order to join this organisation you would need to pay a fee and a registration
form.

• It is important to register with this company because this means it is


more accessible to prove a claim and speed up decisions that need to be made, to
ensure that you get the best service available.

• The reason this is a good company to choose is because they are trusted by


creative individuals and organisations across the world showing that this company
standards are the best .
