The document discusses Malaysia's potential involvement in a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States. Key points include:
1) Malaysia's objectives in negotiating FTAs are to seek better market access, facilitate trade and investment, and enhance competitiveness of Malaysian exporters.
2) Malaysian businesses could benefit from the USFTA through expanded market access, lower import costs, and partnerships with US companies to reach third country markets.
3) However, the document concludes that Malaysia should not sign the USFTA as the country is already economically successful without it and could lose government revenue from lower tariffs on US imports.
